PRESS RELEASE TirangaYatra Commemoration of 75 th anniversary of the Quit India Movement HELD ON 23.08.2017 There are moments in the journey of nations that fundamentally alter the course of history. One such moment was the Quit India Movement that began on 9 th August 1942 which finally culminated into freedom of India. Thereby the nation is observing the 75 th anniversary of Quit India Movement. The Tiranga Yatra is an opportunity to achieve Sankalp to Siddhi towards a New India. Employees Provident Fund Organisation, Ministry of Labour, Govt. of India is also participating in the celebrations of 75 th anniversary of Quit India Movement by organizing Tiranga Yatra where all the three stakeholders i.e. workers from different industries, employers from different sectors and staff & officers of Ministry of Labour and Employment including EPFO participated in the Tiranga Yatra organized today morning on 23.08.2017. The Tiranga Yatra was flagged off by Hon ble Minister for Labour and Employment, Govt. of India, Shri Bandaru Dattatreya, Near Indian Oil Office, Bandra(E), Mumbai at 9.30 a.m. and culminated at EPFO Regional Office at Bandra(E), Mumbai The Tiranga Yatra was also attended by Shri Gopal Shetty, Hon ble MP, Shri Ashish Shelar, Hon ble MLA, Smt. M. Sathiyavathy, Secretary, Labour & Employment, Govt. of India, Shri Heeralal Samariya, Addl. Secretary, Labour & Employment, Govt. of India, Dr. V.P. Joy, Central PF Commissioner, Shri Rajit Punhani, Jt. Secretary, Director General (Labour & Welfare), Shri S.K. Aggarwal, Addl. Central PF Commissioner, Zone Mumbai-I, Sri P U Kulkarni, Addl. Central PF Commissioner, Zone Mumbai-II EPFO in furthering its commitments towards better delivery of services has launched Housing Scheme for members of EPFO to realise the vision of Hon ble Prime Minister for Housing for all by 2022, linkage of Universal Account No. with Aadhaar No., Bank A/c. with IFSC code & Mobile No. and EPFO is soon going to provide e-sign facility to employer to facilitate the settlement of online claims. Even today on-line
claims can be filed by the EPF members if UAN is linked with Aadhaar, Bank and Mobile No. and attested using digital signature. Aadhaar based Jeevan Pramaan is a new form of Digital Life Certificate where any pensioner can submit their life certificate using Aadhaar. EPFO has simplified its on-line filing of ECR and introduced multi-banking payment through internet banking facility under the Ease of Doing Business and to facilitate members. Any EPF member can obtain their EPF balance, Aadhar Linking status with UAN & Bank A/c. by giving missed call to 011-22901406 from their registered mobile no. EPFO has appealed to all employers to facilitate linking of Aadhaar, Mobile No. and Bank A/c. No. of workers with UAN and he further informed that if any worker is having any grievance the same may be either filed on-line through EPFiGMS portal www.epfigms.gov.inor by addressing letter directly to him. All grievances are specifically being monitored personally by him. Hon ble Minister has appealed to all workers, employers, staff & Officers of EPFO to identify themselves as Indians duly rising above from caste, creed and religion. He raised slogan corruption Quit India and make swacch India. He has appreciated initiatives taken by EPFO for use of new technology and Aadhaar based service to subscribers. He has reiterated that Govt. is committed for providing housing to all by 2022 and EPFO has launched Housing Scheme where 90% of the EPF money can be withdrawn in addition to monthly payment of EMI out of the future accumulations in their provident fund. He has given slogan Karenge aur karke rahenge (कर ग और करक रह ग ). He thanked all and especially the lady participants who participated in the TirangaYatra.
Hon ble Secretary, Labour &Employment, Gov.t of India Smt. M. Sathiyavathy has congratulated EPFO for embracing technology for giving service to its 4.5 crore workers contributing members of EPFO. She has congratulated EPFO for initiation of automatic transfer of EPF account where universal account number (UAN) is linked with Aadhaar, Bank A/c. No. and mobile no. and attested using digital signature by employer. She has assured EPF members for better interest on their EPF deposits by way of optimizing their investments for which the Ministry of Labour and Employment is committed. Shri Gopal Chinnaya Shetty, Hon ble MP Loksabha also graced the occasion and extended full support to the workers welfare and who are working towards building of the nation. He praised the leadership of Hon ble Minister in ushering new initiatives in Ministry of Labour & Employment for welfare of workers. Sri S K Aggarwal, Addl. Central PF Commissioner, Mumbai zone welcomed all for the celebration of 75 th anniversary of Quit India Movement and reiterated better delivery of services to the stakeholders.
