Company Match TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE COMPANY MATCH AND LET YOUR MONEY WORK FOR YOU. Marriott offers a discretionary match up to the first 6% you save. The match is 100% vested which means you immediately own the company match. The best way to maximize your share of the discretionary company match is to contribute at least 6% of your pay every year. To be eligible to share in the company match, you must: Be at least age 21; Have at least one year of service and have completed at least 1,000 hours of service in an anniversary year; and Be employed on the last Friday of the year. The chart below shows an example of what your savings could look like if you save at least 6%. Annual Income: $47,000 Matching Contribution Amount * : 75% on first 3% saved; 25% on next 3% saved You Save 6% First 3%: 3% x $47,000 = $1,410 Next 3%: 3% x $47,000 = $1,410 Company Matching Contribution First 3%: 75% x $1,410 = $1,057.50 Next 3%: 25% x $1,410 = $352.50 Your Total Contribution: $2,820 Total Matching Contribution: $1,410 Total Amount Deposited: $4,230 *Matching contribution amount is a discretionary match and varies by year. Decide How To Invest You have a choice on how to invest your savings in the Retirement Savings Plan. No matter which option you choose, it s a good idea to review your investments from time to time to make sure that your decision is allowing you to reach your goals. If you don t make a selection at the time you enroll, your account will be invested in the Vanguard Target Retirement that s most appropriate for your age (assuming you will retire at age 65). THERE ARE TWO WAYS YOU CAN CHOOSE TO INVEST. YOU PICK ONE WHEN YOU ENROLL: OPTION 1 TARGET RETIREMENT FUNDS Own a portfolio managed by professionals. The Target Retirement s may be a smart choice if you want to take the guesswork out of the equation and let the investment managers take care of the rest. You pick one of six Target Retirement s, choosing the fund closest to the year you expect to retire. As you get closer to the fund s target retirement date, the investment mix will gradually become more conservative. OPTION 2 CORE FUNDS Pick the funds to meet a particular goal. The core funds may be a good choice if you want to choose your own investment mix and regularly monitor your account. You can use the core funds to create your own portfolio based on your long-term savings goals. With the core funds, you decide which funds meet your goals and how much to invest in each fund. The core fund options span a range of asset classes and investment approaches. The enclosed Annual Fee Disclosure Statement includes important information to help you compare the investment options. 3

Option 1 Target Retirement s ONE CHOICE, NO GUESSWORK. IT DOESN T GET ANY EASIER THAN THAT. You choose the Target Retirement and leave the investment of the fund to the professionals. The Target Retirement s are managed by Vanguard. You choose the fund that is closest to your retirement goal. If your target retirement date is between the years represented by two funds, you can choose to invest in both funds. As you get closer to retirement, the Target Retirement s mix of stocks, bonds, and cash investments will be adjusted automatically from more aggressive to more conservative. 2055 2045 2035 2025 2015 Income Years to Retirement About 40 About 30 About 20 About 10 Less Than 5 In Retirement Allocation (as of Stocks: 90% Bonds: 10% 09/30/16) * *Allocation will shift over time. Stocks: 90% Bonds: 10% Stocks: 80% Bonds: 20% Stocks: 65% Bonds: 35% Stocks: 46% Bonds: 54% Stocks: 30% Bonds: 70% Each fund is diversified and has a mix of investments. So when you pick one fund, you re actually investing in multiple funds. Let s look at an example: Vanguard Target Retirement 2035 Percentage of Total Holdings (as of September 30, 2016) Vanguard Total Stock Market Index 48% Vanguard Total International Stock Index 32% Vanguard Total Bond Market II Index 14% Vanguard Total International Bond Index 6% TOTAL 100% Although Target Retirement s can simplify investment selection, keep in mind that all investing is subject to risk. There is always a chance that you may lose money that you invest, including on or after the fund s retirement date. Diversification does not ensure a profit or protect you against a loss in a declining market. 4

Option 2 Core Options For those who have a little more time or investing experience, the Plan also offers core fund options. You can choose from a lineup of core funds to create a mix of investments that align with your preferences, comfort with risk, and long-term financial goals. You choose: A mix of investments If you want to invest in more aggressive or conservative funds How much to invest in each core fund Whether to invest in stocks, bonds, or both How to diversify your investments The automatic rebalancing feature helps you to monitor your investments. You can elect to have your investments rebalanced back to your investment mix at the end of every quarter. To sign up, click Retirement Savings > 401(k) Savings > Investments > Change Investments.
