About the Policy 1. What does the Domestic Helper Protector cover? The Domestic Helper Protector provides comprehensive coverage to both employers and domestic helpers, and include: Benefit1 Employer s Liability (Employee s Compensation) Maximum indemnity is up to HK$100,000,000 Benefit 2 Clinical Expenses The maximum amount payable is HK$4,000 for each 12 months period; with maximum limit of HK$200 per visit per day. For bonesetting and physiotherapy, the maximum expenses per visit per day will be HK$100, with an annual maximum limit up to HK$500. Benefit 3 Surgical and Hospitalisation Expenses Maximum indemnity of up to HK$30,000 per year. Benefit 4 Dental Expenses QBE-HKSI will cover two-third of the expenses, with maximum of up to HK$1,500. Benefit 5 Personal Accident In the event of an accident to your Domestic Helper during her rest days not in the course of and arising out of employment with you, the maximum compensation payable is HK$200,000. Benefit 6 Loss of Services Cash Allowances If your Domestic Helper is hospitalized in case of accident or sickness, you will receive a cash allowance of HK$200 per day from the 4 th day of the Domestic Helper s confinement, subject to a maximum of HK$20,000 for each 12 month s period. Benefit 7 Repatriation Expenses In the event of serious sickness or injury to your Domestic Helper resulting in her being certified by a legally qualified and registered medical practitioner as medically unfit to work leading to the termination of her employment contract, QBE-HKSI will pay the expenses for: (a) the repatriation of the Domestic Helper to her country of residence by scheduled flight (economy class); or (b) the treatment of the Domestic Helper s post-mortem and transportation of the mortal remains to the airport nearest to the place of burial in her country of residence. The maximum amount payable for the actual expenses incurred is up to HK$20,000. Benefit 8 Replacement Helper Expenses In the event of the repatriation of your Domestic Helper as described in benefit 7 above, the expenses reasonably and necessarily incurred for employing a replacement helper could be reimbursed with maximum limit of HK$10,000 for each 12 months period. Benefit 9 Fidelity Guarantee Your financial loss arising from the dishonest act of your Domestic Helper is protected, with a maximum limit of HK$3,000 per year. 1.1 So, how much is the premium amount for all of the above 9 benefits? HK$750 for one year HK$1,350 for two years 1.2 Can I choose the benefits only governed by the law of HKSAR? Yes, you may select benefits 1 & 5 only, i.e. Employer s Liability & Personal Accident benefits with the following premium amount: HK$450 for one year HK$810 for two years 2. Is there any coverage for the medical expenses on cancer and heart disease treatment under the Domestic Helper Protector? The Clinical Expenses, Surgical and Hospitalisation Expenses and Loss of Services Cash Allowances benefits do not cover cancer and heart disease. However, you can choose an extra cover to include cancer and heart disease by paying an additional sum of premium as below: One-year premium: HK$250 Two-year premium: HK$450 3. Does the Domestic Helper Protector cover the Employer s Liability benefit? Yes. The Domestic Helper Protector has already included the Employer s Liability (Employee s Compensation) benefit. The Policy indemnifies you against liability under the legislation to pay compensation, costs and/or expenses to your domestic helper in case she is sick, injured or dead arising out of employment with you. Maximum indemnity is HK$100,000,000. 4. If I have moved to a new address, how shall I inform QBE-HKSI? You may inform us through mail, email or fax. Please provide the full name, date of birth, nationality and passport copy of the new domestic helper by either mailing, email or fax to QBE-HKSI. We will update the information accordingly. Please note that there will be a 10-day waiting period from the effective date of the policy. Expenses incurred under benefit items 2, 3, 4 and 6 could not be reimbursed, whereas benefit items 1, 5, 7, 8 and 9 are effective immediately. 6. My new domestic helper has already arrived and reported duty. However I forgot to inform QBE-HKSI about the change. Can you back date the change to the date of arrival of my new domestic helper? No, you couldn t. It is because we can only update the policy information upon the notice from the Insured about the new domestic helper. We are unable to date back the change to the domestic helper s date of arrival. 7. My new and old domestic helpers are having a handover period and need to be insured at the same time, what can I do? If the handover period of the two domestic helpers is within a month s time, you only have to pay an extra premium of HK$100 to get both of them protected. Please note that you have to send in your request through mail, email or fax. 8. If I have ended the contract with my domestic helper and am not going to employ another one, can I cancel the Policy? Yes. Please send in the original Policy to QBE-HKSI together with the cancellation notice. It will be cancelled on the date we received the original copies. Please note a minimum retained premium of HK$450 is required upon policy cancellation. 9. Can I transfer the Policy to my friend? No, the policy is NOT transferable. 10. How long can I extend the period of insurance? The period of insurance can be extended depending on your needs. Premium amount per month is equivalent to 10% of the annual premium; 20% for two months and so on. The minimum premium charge is HK$100. 11. In the event that there is an accident occurred to the domestic helper during her rest days, is she entitled to any protection? Yes. The Domestic Helper Protector provides Personal Accident Benefit. If an accident happened to your domestic helper during her rest days not in the course of and arising out of employment with you and/or not covered by the legislation resulting in accidental death or permanent total disablement occurring within 12 months from the date of such accident. 11.1 Is there any limit for the indemnity? Yes. The maximum limit is HK$200,000. 11.2 Any accidental injury can be claimed? No. The coverage does not include riding in any kind of race, driving or underwater activities involving the use of breathing apparatus. 12. If my domestic helper cannot stay in Hong Kong for work because of the injury, do I have any protection? If the domestic helper is not capable for work because she is injured or having critical illness or dead that is proved by a legally registered medical practitioner and that leads to the termination of the employment contract, you can submit a claim for the Repatriation Expenses. This includes the actual, necessary and reasonable expenses incurred, as below: the repatriation of the Domestic Helper to her country of residence by scheduled flight (economy class); or the treatment of the Domestic Helper s post-mortem and transportation of the mortal remains to the airport nearest to the place of burial in her country of residence. 12.1 Is there any indemnity limit? Yes. The maximum limit is HK$20,000. 12.2 Are there any exclusion? Exclusion as below: Any repatriation or transportation of mortal remains originating outside of Hong Kong; or Any accident causing casualty outside the Hong Kong territory that requires a repatriation or transportation of mortal remains originating outside of Hong Kong. 13. So, can I submit a claim for the expenses of employing a new domestic helper? If you are entitled to the benefit of Repatriation Expenses, the Replacement Helper Expenses benefit also applies. 13.1 Is there any indemnity limit? Yes. The maximum limit is HK$10,000 per year. 14. If I suffer a loss from the dishonest act of the domestic helper, do I get a cover for that? If you have suffered a financial loss arising from the dishonest act of the domestic helper, the Fidelity Guarantee benefit will cover your actual amount of loss. 14.1 Is there any indemnity limit? About Claims 15. Do I get protected if my domestic helper seeks medical treatment from clinic or hospital due to sickness or injury? You are protected under Clinical Expenses benefit. This benefit includes expenses charged by legally registered medical practitioner, bonesetter and physiotherapist. 15.1 So, how can I make the claims? In order to speed up the Claims process for customers, we have simplified the claims procedure by waiving the need to fill in the Domestic Helper Insurance Outpatient Claim Form. If your domestic helper receives medical treatment from a clinic or the outpatient section of private hospital, please submit the official receipt issued by a legally registered medical practitioner / bonesetter / physiotherapist. Please state the full name of your domestic helper, the diagnosis, date of visit and amount of consultation expenses on the receipt. Please also provide the employer s (your) full name, policy number and contact number at the back of the official receipt before you send it to QBE-HKSI. If your domestic helper receives medical treatment from the outpatient section of public hospital or government clinic, please send to QBE-HKSI the original receipt and Medical Certificate with the diagnosis stated. The Medical Certificate is issued by the duty doctor free of charge. The domestic helper can request it from the attending doctor during her medical consultation. To avoid any mailing error, please make a copy of the receipt for record and follow up. 15.2 Is this benefit subject to a maximum limit? The maximum benefit for Clinical Expenses is HK$4,000 per year, with an upper limit of HK$200 per visit per day. For bonesetting and physiotherapy, the maximum coverage is HK$500 per year, with a limit up to HK$100 per day per visit. 15.3 Can my domestic helper receive medical treatment from a general outpatient clinic, followed by a specialist visit in a day? There is no classification under the Clinical Expenses benefit. It means the maximum indemnity amount is HK$200 per visit per day, with general outpatient and specialist visits combined. In other words, the overall expenses incurred by the domestic helper for general outpatient and specialist visits on the same day is HK$200. 15.4 If my domestic helper suffered from chiropractic problem and has to seek medical treatment from a chiropractor, can such medical expenses incurred be reimbursed? No. Medical expenses incurred from chiropractic treatment are excluded from the Clinical Expenses benefit. 15.5 Are the medical expenses and the prescription from Chinese Medicine Practitioner covered? According to the Chinese Medicine Ordinance, Chinese medicine practitioners are categorized into three types: General Practice, Acupuncture and Bonesetting. Bonesetting is under the coverage of Clinical Expenses, whereas General Practice and Acupuncture are excluded. 15.6 Does the Policy cover all types of disease? No. Any of the below items is counted as an exclusion: Pre-existing medical condition, sickness or injury during the waiting period, medical treatment outside Hong Kong territory, nervous or mental disease, venereal disease, congenital anomalies or deformities, infertility, sterilization, pregnancy, childbirth, heart-disease, cancer, rest cure, Chinese medicine practitioner treatment, chiropractic treatment, preventive injection, physical check-ups, cosmetic or plastic surgery, suicide, intoxication by alcohol, asbestos, narcotics or drugs not prescribed by a registered medical practitioner or purchased from pharmacies, AIDS or AIDS related complex, war or allied perils, or act of terrorism etc. 16. If my domestic helper is hospitalized, how can I make a claim? You can apply to claim for the Surgical and Hospitalisation Expenses benefit. If your domestic helper is hospitalized for more than 3 days, you can get the Loss of Services Cash Allowance from the 4 th day onwards. If your domestic helper is hospitalized at a private hospital, please call our claims hotline at 2877 8608 to obtain a Domestic Helper Hospitalization Claim Form. Please hand it to the attending doctor to fill in and mail it to QBE-HKSI with the original receipts from the hospital. If your domestic helper is hospitalized at a public hospital, you are not required to fill in the form. However, please provide the original hospital in-patient certificate showing the period of confinement and diagnosis. The certificate is to be completed by the attending doctor free of charge and your domestic helper can request it when she is discharged. Please mail the original receipt and the copy of the certificate to QBE-HKSI for making a claim. Besides, to avoid any mail error, please make a copy of all claims documents for record and follow up. 16.1 Is there any limit for the above coverage? Yes. The maximum limit for the Surgical and Hospitalisation Expenses is HK$30,000 per year. For the Loss of Services Cash Allowance, the maximum limit is HK$200 per day, HK$6,000 per year. 16.2 Does the Policy cover any of the sickness / disease? No. Any of the below items is counted as an exclusion: Pre-existing medical condition, sickness or injury during the waiting period, medical treatment outside Hong Kong territory, nervous or mental disease, venereal disease, congenital anomalies or deformities, infertility, sterilization, pregnancy, childbirth, heart-disease, cancer, rest cure, Chinese medicine practitioner treatment, chiropractic treatment, preventive injection, physical check-ups, cosmetic or plastic surgery, suicide, intoxication by alcohol, asbestos, narcotics or drugs not prescribed by a registered medical practitioner or purchased from pharmacies, AIDS or AIDS related complex, war or allied perils, or act of terrorism etc. 17. Is there any dental benefit? Yes. The Domestic Helper Protector provides Dental Expenses benefit. 17.1 How much is this benefit? If your domestic helper requires oral surgery, treatment of abscesses, X-rays, extractions or fillings as a result of dental disease, you will be entitled to a reimbursement amount equivalent to two-thirds of the actual necessary and reasonable expenses incurred up to HK$1,500 per year. All such treatment should be received from a legally qualified and registered dentist. Please also send in a copy of Form 2 together with the copy of your domestic helper s identity card to QBE-HKSI for filing. After your domestic helper recovered, please handle the claims of employee s compensation according to the instruction delivered to you by the Labour Department. For claims processing, please submit to the QBE-HKSI as soon as possible the original Medical Certificate(s), original medical expenses receipts, original Certificate of Compensation Assessment (Form 5) and Original Certificate of Assessment (Form 7) (if any). For any enquiry about the claims of employee s compensation, please contact our Claims Department at 2877 8608. 18.1 Is all kind of Employer s Liability covered? No. The coverage does not include Pneumoconiosis, Mesothelioma, nuclear energy and radiation, any late payment surcharge that the Insured may become liable under the legislation. 19. If I have to submit a claim, is there any time limit for submitting the relevant documents? According to the Policy terms, you have to submit all relevant documents to QBE-HKSI within 30 days. 20. If the original receipt is lost by mail, what can I do? You can ask your attending doctor to endorse and stamp on the receipts copies. Please write the Insured s (employer s) full name, policy number and contact number at the back of the copies before you mail to QEB-HKSI. Remarks: Contents above are only a summary. Please refer to the Policy for full terms and conditions. 17.2 Are all types of dental expenses covered under the Policy? No. The cover does not include routine examination, scaling polishing or cleaning, crowning, bridging, braces and dentures, pre-existing dental disease, any dental problems that occur during the waiting period, or any dental surgery taken outside Hong Kong territory. 18. If my domestic helper is injured when working, how can I make a claim? If your domestic helper gets injured during work, you should send her to the hospital / clinic for treatment immediately. You are required to fill in Form 2 within 14 days from the accident and send it to the Labour Department in whole set of duplicated copies.
