We are collecting food through the week of Thanksgiving. Boxes will be located outside each classroom and in the hallway in front of the office. Thanks for giving! Community Partnership Fundraising One way that Hornung PTO raises money is by partnering with local businesses to host a Hornung night. We are currently partnering with Hungry Howie s (Grand River, Brighton location) and Rollerama. These businesses support our local schools by donating a portion of their sales on a specific day back to Hornung. It is a great way to both support your school and a locally owned business. If you have a business that would like to partner with Hornung PTO, please contact Jodie Giles at jodiegiles@gmail.com. Hornung PTO has also partnered with Kroger and AmazonSmile. It s easy to support our PTO while shopping! Kindergarten Parents The Kindergarteners line up outside at the double doors closest to the Multipurpose Room. Teachers/safeties will bring them into the building at 8:35am. Please do not drop off students before 8:35, because there is NO supervision for students before that time. Thank You! Communications The Hornung staff believes that quality parent/teacher communication and parent involvement is vital for a child's success in school. Because a teacher's top priority is to prepare and deliver instruction, we ask you to pre-arrange conference times. This will guarantee that you have adequate time to discuss concerns and also allow the teacher an opportunity to plan for your meeting. Your child's teacher will provide you with times he/she is available for conferences and will work with you to schedule a mutual meeting time. Your
child's classroom agenda/planner is an excellent means of communication. Feel free to call Mr. Yates at 810.299.4451 if you have any questions or concerns or email him at yatesj@brightonk12.com. Attendance Remember to call Hornung's attendance line at 810.299.4454 when your child is absent. As a safety precaution, we will call your home to check on your child's whereabouts if we do not hear from a parent/guardian regarding the student's absence. It is important for students to arrive on time. However, if a student arrives late, the parent/guardian must sign the book on the table in front of the office and the student will take a pink slip to his/her teacher. This lets the teacher know the student has signed in at the office. Bus Information- If your child is to be picked up at or dropped off at a location different than their normal pick up/drop off location, an alternate destination form must be completed. These forms are available in the office. Notes-Keep us Informed Please keep us informed if: If your child is going home with another child, we must have a note from you and the receiving parent. Anyone other than you will be picking your child up from school. We need a signed note from you with specific details. Please make certain that this person is listed on your child's emergency card. Lost and Found If your child has lost any items this year please check the lost and found. You will need to come into the office to get a Visitor Pass and sign into the building. You will then be directed to lost and found. From the Clinic Students, who have had a fever, should be fever free for 24 hours before returning to school AND be given 24 hours to recuperate from diarrhea and vomiting before returning to school. THANK YOU!
