01 Orchid Isle Ford Monster Car Sale. It s time for the 4th Annual Monster Car Sale with Orchid Isle Ford! This annual sales event will kick-off on Monday, October 15th and run through Wednesday, October 31st. Both the Hilo and the Kona Orchid Isle Ford locations will be offering great deals to our CU Hawaii members. CU Hawaii and Orchid Isle Ford has teamed up to bring our members a wide selection of vehicles at great rates as low as 0.99% APR on new vehicles and as low as 1.49% APR on used vehicles. For the Monster deal, Orchid Isle is offering up to $500 off on new cars, $1,000 off on new trucks in dealer rewards. And if there are Manufacturer s Rebates available, you can apply that to your new car and reduce the final out the door price even more! 02 ICU Day Celebration Credit Unions around the world will be celebrating the Platinum Anniversary of International Credit Union Day on Thursday, October 18, 2018. That's 70 years! Over 235 million people in 109 countries and 6 continents will be sharing the credit union story. Our history and the success of the people serving people philosophy that drives everything that credit unions do for their members. CU Hawaii has been serving members of Hawaii Island since 1955. As a member, you are an owner at CU Hawaii. Members enjoy the advantages of some of the lowest loan rates on Hawaii Island, higher dividends paid on savings and lower or no service fees. Now that is something to celebrate! Come by any of our CU Hawaii Branches on Thursday, October 18th and enjoy some light refreshments and enter to win a $70 cash prize drawing. 03 Toys for Tots Special Olympics Every October is Special Olympics month at CU Hawaii. It s easy to make a donation that will help fund travel for our East Hawaii Island athletes to participate in the state games. Lighten your pockets by donating your loose change into the Special Olympic cans found at our teller stations at all of our CU Hawaii branches. Cashing a check? Drop the change into the can. If you have a sweet tooth, we have Big Island Candies crunch bars for sale during the entire month of October; while supplies last. The proceeds from these crunch bar sales are donated to Special Olympics East Hawaii. With every donation, you can complete a Special Olympics icon to be displayed in our lobby. Write in your family name, the name of an athlete you may know, or a message of encouragement! Every donation can help send our Hawaii Island athletes to the games on Oahu. Visit our Hilo, Kona, Kea`au, Pahoa, Puainako or Na alehu branch to drop off a new unwrapped toy and make a difference in a child s Christmas in 2018. Toys or personal items are needed for boys and girls from babies up to 17 years old. Beginning on November 23, 2018, the day after Thanksgiving, each CU Hawaii branch will be a collection center for Annual Toys for Tots event. Last year our members and employees donated over 150 new unwrapped toys! Collection boxes will be in our branches through December 15th. What better time of year to live the credit union philosophy of People Helping People.
04 Desiree Medeiros is truly a veteran of CU Hawaii. She celebrated her 30- year anniversary in August of 2018. Desiree was hired in 1988 as a fulltime teller and has elevated herself to the Senior Loan Officer position that she holds today. Employee Anniversaries She is a graduate of Hilo High School, has attended courses at the University of Hawaii at Hilo and received her Certificate of Accounting through extended credit union based educational classes. In her off time, Desiree enjoys a good book and spending quality time with her family and best friends. Lester Mako Okazaki is celebrating his 10th anniversary with CU Hawaii. He was hired in September of 2008 as the Operations Supervisor at our Pahoa branch. Mako was promoted, April of 2012 to Branch Manager at our Na alehu branch in Ka`u and has recently been assigned to manage and service our members at our branch in Kailua-Kona. Desiree Medeiros Mako is a graduate of Honokaa High School and a 2018 graduate of Western CUNA Management School. Mako spends many of his weekends as an official with the Hilo Swim Club.
