STATISTICAL REVIEW FOR 2016 Federal State Statistics Service presents statistical review of social and economic situation of the Russian Federation for 2016. Population. According to estimate the resident population size of the Russian Federation as of January 1, 2017 was 146.8 million persons. In 2016 the number of residents of Russia increased by 259.7 thousand persons or by 0.18 % (in 2015 population increased by 277.4 thousand persons or by 0.19 %). In 2016 number of deaths exceeded the number of births by 0.1 % and natural decline rate amounted to 0.01. Net migration fully compensated population loss and ensured population growth. Employment and unemployment. Size of labour force in 2016 was 76.6 million persons or 52 % of the total population of the country, including 72.4 million persons or 94.5 % of the total size of labour force were employed in the economy and 4.2 million persons (5.5 %) had no occupation but were actively looking for a job (according to the methodology of International Labor Organization they are classified as unemployed). At the end of December 894.6 thousand persons were registered by the State Employment Services as unemployed. Living standards. The welfare of population is primarily determined by the money income. Per capita money income * for 2016 amounted to 30738 roubles per month and has risen in comparison with the corresponding period of 2015 by 0.9 %, while money expenditures and per capita savings came to 30497 roubles and decreased by 0.3 % respectively. Real disposable money income of population (income excluding compulsory payments adjusted for the CPI) for 2016* decreased in comparison to the corresponding period of 2015 by 5.9 %. In the structure of money income of population for 2016* compared to the corresponding period of 2015 the share of social payments income from property increased, while the income from entrepreneurial activity and remuneration (income of employees) decreased. Preliminary data shows that 72.6 % of money incomes of population were spent to purchase goods and services, 11.4 - for compulsory payments and dues, 12.0 - for savings and 4.0 % - for foreign currency purchasing. In 2016 * 10.0% of well-off population received 30.4 % of the total money income and the share of the less secured population income was 1.9 % (for the corresponding period of 2015 30.4 % and 1.9 % respectively). Average nominal accrued monthly wage for 2016 * accounted for 36746 roubles and has risen compared to 2015 by 7.8 %, real accrued wages by 0.7 %. Average pension for 2016 amounted to 12391.1 roubles and compared to 2015 increased by 3.4 %, in 2016 real pensions decreased by 3.4% as compared to the corresponding period of 2015. Gross Domestic Product for 2016 at current prices made 86043.6 billion roubles and its volume index compared to 2015 amounted to 99.8 %. Index of industrial production ** for 2016 in comparison with the corresponding period of 2015 comprised 101.1 %. Statistical review Production index for manufacturing for 2016 compared to the corresponding period of 2015 made 100.1 %. The growth in production output was observed for the following economic activities: manufacture of rubber and plastics products - 105.4%; manufacture of textiles and textile products - 105.3; manufacture of chemical products - 105.3; manufacture of leather, leather products and footwear - 105.1; manufacture of machinery and equipment - 103.8; manufacture of wood and wood products - 102.8; manufacture of food products, including beverages, and tobacco - 102.4; manufacture of pulp, paper and paper products; publishing and printing - 100.8%. Decrease in production output was observed for economic activities: manufacture of electrical, electronic and optical equipment - 99.0%; manufacture of basic metals and fabricated metal products - 97.7; manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products - 97.6; manufacture of transport equipment - 97.0; other manufacturing - 93.8; manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products - 93.4%. Production index for the activity «Electricity, gas and water supply» for 2016 compared to the corresponding period of 2015 accounted for 101.5 %. Agriculture. According to estimates, the volume of agricultural production of all producers (agricultural enterprises, peasant (farm) enterprises and individual entrepreneurs, household farms) in 2016 (in accordance with provisional data) at actual prices amounted to 5626.0 billion roubles or 104.8 % by comparative assessment of the corresponding period of 2015. Gross harvest of grain in the Russian Federation in 2016 made 120.7 million ton (weight after processing), which was 15.9 million ton (by 15.2 %) above the level of the previous year. In 2016 gross harvest of sugar beet increased (by 31.6 %) along with sunflower seeds (by 18.6 %) due to an increase in crop yields (by 21.3 % and 6.3 % correspondingly), and was conditioned by the expansion in sugar beet harvested acreage (by 7.7 %) and sunflower (by 9.9 %) compared to the previous year. The gross harvest of vegetables was higher than last year s level (by 1.1 %), for the most part due to the increase in yield. Production of potatoes and flax-fibre decreased (by 7.5 % and 8.8 % respectively) due to the decrease of land in crops (by 3.8 % and 11.3 % respectively)and for potatoes because of the decrease in yield (by 3.8 %). In 2016 in enterprises of all types (according to preliminary data) production of cattle and poultry for slaughter (live weight) amounted to 13.9 million ton (103.4 % to the level of 2015), production of milk 30.7 million ton (99.8 %), of eggs 43.5 billion pieces (102.2 %). Construction. The value of works performed for the economic activity Construction in 2016 amounted to 6184.4 billion roubles (95.7 % to the level of 2015). In 2016 organizations of all ownership types have put in place 1167.1 thousand new flats of total floor space of 80.2 million sq. m. Transport and communication. The freight turnover of transport for 2016 made 5181.8 billion ton-kilometers (101.8 % of the level of 2015), of which railway 2344.1 (101.7 %), motor 234.5 (100.8 %), inland water 64.7 (103.4 %), maritime 42.8 (107.6 %), air 6.6 (120.6 %), pipeline transport 2489.1 billion ton-kilometers (101.8 %). Passenger turnover of public transport for 2016 accounted for 457.7 billion passenger-kilometers (98.2 % of the level of 2015), of which railway 124.6 (103.3 %), motor transport 116.9 (99.2%), air transport 215.6 billion passengerkilometers (95.0 %). The value of service rendered by all operators of communication in 2016 was 1657.2 billion roubles (99.3 % to the corresponding period of the previous year). In 2016 compared to the corresponding period of 2015 the volume of documentary telecommunication, postal, radio and television services have increased. As of January 1, 2017 the number of user terminals of moving radiotelephone (cellular) communication reached 290.0 million. Trade. Retail trade turnover in 2016 amounted to 28317.3 billion roubles and made in terms of trade mass 4.6 % less than in 2015. In the structure of retail trade turnover for 2016 the share of non-food products amounted to 51.4 % (in 2015-51.3 %). Market services rendered to po pulation. In 2016 market services rendered to population accounted for 8377.8 billion roubles. The volume index in comparison to 2015 made 99.7 %. Housing communal services took the first place in the structure of market services rendered to population in 2016 and its share reached 28.0 % of the total volume of market services. Finances. According to short-term data of the Federal Treasury of Russia the consolidated budget including extrabudget state funds for 2016 was executed with the deficit of 3142.0 billion roubles. Statistical review In the revenue structure the largest share accounted for: tax on profit of organizations 2770.3 billion roubles or 10.0 %, income tax for individuals 3018.5 billion roubles or 10.9 %, benefits on compulsory social security 6036.6 billion roubles or 21.8 %, VAT on goods (works, services) sold on the territory of the Russian Federation 2657.7 billion roubles or 9.6 %, tax, dues and regular payment for natural resources 2951.8 billion roubles or 10.6 %, revenue from external economic activity 2606.0 billion roubles or 9.4 %. In the structure of expenditures of the consolidated budget for 2016 on social and cultural arrangements were allocated 17511.6 billion roubles or 56.7 % of total expenditures on objectives affecting the state as a whole respectively 1849.9 billion roubles and 6.0 %, on the national defense 3777.6 billion roubles and 12.2 %, on state security and law enforcement 2011.4 billion roubles and 6.5 %, national economy 3889.8 billion roubles and 12.6 %. Execution of the federal budget in accordance with data from the Federal Treasury of Russia in 2016 was executed with the deficit of 2956.3 billion roubles. Revenue amounted to 13460.1 billion roubles, expenditures 16416.4 billion roubles. Money supply (M2) according to the Bank of Russia as of January 1, 2017 accounted for 38417.9 billion roubles and increased in comparison with the beginning of 2016 by 9.2 %. Investments. In 2016 organizations of all types of ownership had used 14639.8 billion roubles of investments in fixed capital, which is 99.1 % to the level of 2015. The share of investments (excluding small enterprises) at own expenses amounted to 51.8 %, attracted funds 48.2 %, of which 9.0 % from the federal budget, funds of individuals and legal entities attracted by developer organizations shared construction 2.8 %. In 2016 volume of financial investments of organizations (excluding small businesses, budgetary institutions, banks, insurance companies and non-state pension funds) amounted to 136.7 trillion roubles. Long-term financial investments amounted to 15.5 trillion roubles (11.3 % of the total volume), short-term 121.2 trillion roubles. Prices and tariffs. Consumer price index in 2016 (December to December of 2015) comprised 105.4 %, including for food products 104.6 %, non-food products 106.5 %, services 104.9 %. At the end of December of 2016 the cost of the fixed basket of consumer goods and services in average for Russia used for interregional comparison of purchasing power of population accounted for 14212.1 roubles per month. Compared to the end of November its value has increased by 0.4 (since the beginning of the year by 6.1 %). Producer price indices for selected sectors of the economy in 2016 (December to December of 2015) were as follows: for manufactured goods 107.4 %, for agricultural production 101.8, for investment purpose products 103.2, index of freight transportation tariffs amounted to 105.6 %. Producer price index for manufacturing in 2016 compared to December of 2015 made 107.7 %, including for manufacture of food products, including beverages, and tobacco 105.0, manufacture of textiles and textile products 106.6, manufacture of leather, leather products and footwear 113.3, manufacture of wood and wood products 104.1, manufacture of pulp, paper and paper products; publishing and printing 108.5, manufacture of coke 156.0, manufacture of refined petroleum products 107.7, manufacture of chemical products 97.5, manufacture of rubber and plastics 107.0, manufacture of rubber and plastics products 105.8, manufacture of basic metals and fabricated metal products 114.8, manufacture of machinery and equipment 106.2, manufacture of electrical, electronic and optical equipment 106.8, manufacture of transport equipment 109.7 %. The producer price index for Electricity, gas and water supply for 2016 compared to December of 2015 amounted to 105.1 %. External economic activities *. The external trade turnover in 2016 reached the value of 467.8 billion US dollars, including exports of goods 285.5 billion US dollars, imports 182.3 billion US dollars. Foreign trade balance (netting) was positive 103.2 billion US dollars. In comparison with 2015 external trade turnover decreased by 11.1 %, exports decreased by 16.9 %, imports decreased by 0.3 %. The share of the other countries in total external trade turnover comprises 87.9 %. Fuel and energy products prevailed in commodity structure of exports (58.1 %).
