Ferry back to the mainland and return to Providence with the memories of a satisfying day trip. Stowe Community Church, Stowe, VT Day 4 - Tue, Oct 3 Green Mountain State Our route leads north through the Connecticut River Valley. We ll visit the campus of Dartmouth College and have lunch in the quaint town of Hanover, NH. Continue north into the Green Mountains of Vermont. Stop to enjoy some apple cider and shop for items found only in New England. Travel to Stowe, a picturesque ski village, to walk along main street and take a picture of Stowe s famous church steeple. Tonight, we re at the Capitol Plaza situated one block from the Montpelier Capitol Building and along the Winooski River. Meals: B Motif #1, Rockport, MA Martha s Vineyard, MA Day 5 - Wed, Oct 4 Granite State & Franconia Notch Be entertained at historic Morse Farm Sugar Works where maple products have been produced for eight generations. We ll view a slide show on Vermont s most traditional occupation and enjoy tasty samples. Afterwards we ll cross the Connecticut River into the White Mountains of New Hampshire, and then climb to Franconia Notch. Here, a tram takes us to the top of Cannon Mountain for a spectacular view of the autumn foliage. We ll continue through the Bretton Woods and Crawford Notch. Our destination is Red Jacket Resort in the heart of the Mt. Washington Valley. Meals: B, L, D Day 6 - Thur, Oct 5 Maine / Portland Head Light Maine is known as the Pine Tree State and today our drive takes us through the forests to the rocky coast of the Atlantic. We ll visit the famous Portland Head Light and head to Kennebunkport to browse the streets of this old fishing village. Our drive will take us along Walker Point to view the summer home of former President Bush. Our final overnight is situated right on the Atlantic coast in Ogunquit, ME at Anchorage by the Sea. They ll welcome us with a traditional Lobster Bake where we ll feast on fresh Maine Lobster. Meals: B, D Day 7 - Fri, Oct 6 Coastal Drive / Travel Home Enjoy a drive down the Atlantic coastline. In Portsmouth, enjoy the sight of 18th century homes built by sea captains. We ll stop in Gloucester before driving to Rockport, MA on Cape Ann.
