Wraps and Platforms could be the winners of the pension revolution. It is clear that the pension reforms offer big opportunities and it is widely accepted that platform assets are likely to increase as the new flexible arrangements take hold. Companies are positioning themselves in the market and business models are changing as strategies for the reforms start to be implemented. New acquisitions for vertical integration have been announced recently as companies seek to take full advantage of the new market conditions and implement their new business structures and propositions. With these opportunities come challenges. Wraps and platforms already have the flexibility to offer services but platform functionality will be the key to success in the new market. Many wrap and platform propositions are struggling with ageing technology and re- platforming is already taking place. Advisers will want to ensure that they deliver good service to clients and that platform technology has the capacity to allow their clients to maximise all the pension freedoms. Regulatory scrutiny will be on the increase, especially in the area of due diligence, suitability and with the new drawdown products to ensure good customer outcomes. Competition for assets is likely to increase and price and service will be the differentiator. Westminster and City s fifth annual conference on Wraps and Platforms is ideally timed to take place a few months into the new pension freedom regime. It will offer insights into how customers and advisers are using platforms and how the wrap and platform market is responding to the opportunities and the challenges. It will assess how customers are reacting to the new flexibility and what it will mean for products and services.

How might advisers assess providers going through technological change in terms of due diligence? Platform or Off Platform? Since the original announcement, much research has been done prior to the commencement of pension freedom. But how will customers actually respond?
