The 2017 Academy is another unparalleled opportunity for lawyers and government officials from the region and around the world to meet and interact with luminaries of international law. The Academy is intensive and highly rewarding. According to many participants, the Academy has deepened their understanding of international dispute settlement. Through the Academy, these participants have also developed and extended their network of international and professional relationships. The 9-day programme will commence on 25 October 2017 and will culminate with an Arbitration Moot before two distinguished tribunals on 1 November 2017. This year s programme will also include access to a one-day public conference on recent developments in the investment treaty world on 2 November 2017. This workshop provides a hybrid of public international law, private international law and commercial law which gives, as a government lawyer, insight on both sides of the fence when looking at case studies as usually a government lawyer tend to look more on the public international law aspect. Additionally, the case studies, that we were tasked, equipped us with basic, advanced and even practical knowledge and application in investment law, particularly in Investor-state dispute settlements. Not only that, the participants were a mixture of government lawyers and private practitioners from all over the world including under and post graduate law students which makes the Q&A sessions very educational and productive. Ms Ain Abdullah, Brunei SIAA 2016 I thoroughly recommend the SIAA as an opportunity to learn from worldclass practitioners in investor-state arbitration and meet peers practising in the field. The programme encompassed sessions on substantive and procedural issues in investor-state arbitration, afforded opportunities to negotiate and advocate, and encouraged participants to consider current developments in the field. Thank you very much to the CIL team for delivering a first-class programme, with such good humour and professionalism. Ms Sarah Macrory, London SIAA 2016

The SIAA has been a great and very memorable experience I ve learned more about investor-state arbitration than I could have from research or textbooks. The trainers were world-class and we were privileged to learn from them. Chris Thomas and his team have done an excellent job. I have little doubt that this is one of the best arbitration courses anywhere in the world. Mr. Matthew Koh, Singapore SIAA 2015 You and your team have done such a wonderful job preparing for the program, I cannot thank you enough. Your attention to detail and your enthusiasm, kindness and consideration throughout the Academy made the experience much more meaningful for the participants. Ms. Una Cho, S. Korea SIAA 2015 a fantastic course, lining up some wonderful speakers and lecturers and getting us great coaches for each side This course has been an eye opener. Ms. Shobna Chandran, Singapore SIAA 2014 I definitely learnt a lot and have already started urging friends and colleagues to look out for registration for next year! Ms. Felicia Tan, Singapore SIAA 2013 Thank you again for putting together an excellent program that was helpful to practitioners and government officials alike. Needless to say, I learned a lot from the Singapore International Arbitration Academy, and not only that, got to meet and form friendships with brilliant people. The program was especially helpful in guiding me which issues to focus on as well as where to look in terms of reference materials. Ms. Erica Shin, S. Korea SIAA 2013
