Answer 3 a) Discussion could include the following: The optimum inventory level is a trade-off between the cost of holding stock and the cost of not holding stock. The former include: - storage costs. - financing costs. - insurance costs. - obsolescence costs. Costs of holding too little stock include: - loss of customer goodwill. - production stoppages. - loss of flexibility. Each of the above could be developed.
