THE YOUNG WORLD SWEEPSTAKES OFFICIAL RULES NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. A PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND WILL NOT IMPROVE YOUR CHANCE OF WINNING. Eligibility: Sweepstakes open to legal residents of the 50 United States or the District of Columbia, who are between the ages of 13-21 years of age as of the commencement date of the Sweepstakes Period (below). ( Sponsor ), and Sponsor s parent, subsidiaries, affiliates, retailers, suppliers, distributors, advertising/promotion agencies ( Promotion Entities ) and their immediate family members (mother, father, brothers, sisters, sons, daughters and spouse) and/or those living in the same household with such employees, whether or not related, are not eligible to enter or win. Sweepstakes is void where prohibited by law. How to Enter: Enter by filling out the online entry form at www.theyoungworld.com with: (1) your name, (2) date of birth, (3) email address, (4) complete street address (including zip code), (5) the name of your parent or legal guardian (if you are under 18 years of age), and (6) your telephone number (or the telephone number of your parent or legal guardian if you are under 18 years of age). Sponsor will have the right to consider incomplete entries ineligible. Limit one entry per person, per household (including immediate family members, e.g., mother, father, brothers, sisters, sons, daughters and spouse) and/or those living in the same household, whether or not related), per day, per email address, during the Sweepstakes Period. If it is discovered that you attempted to enter more than permitted pursuant to the Sweepstakes rules, all of your entries will be void and you will not be eligible for a prize. Proof of entry is not considered proof of delivery or receipt of such entry. Sponsor shall not have liability for any entry that is lost, delayed, intercepted or not received by Sponsor, for any reason. Sweepstakes Period: Entries must be submitted online between March 1, 2014, 9:00 am (ET) and September 1, 2014, 11:59 pm (ET). Winner Selection/Notification/Odds: On or around September 15, 2014, one (1) Grand Prize winner, and five (5) Runner-Up Prize winners will be selected from the United States in a random drawing conducted by Sponsor from among all eligible entries received in time according to these Rules. Sponsor's decisions will be final and binding in all matters relating to this Sweepstakes.
The potential winners (or their parent or legal guardian if they are under 18 years of age) will be notified by telephone, using the contact information provided in your entry. In addition, if Sponsor elects, announcements also may be posted online at Sponsor s website, www.theyoungworld.com. Sponsor shall have no liability for any winner notification that is lost, intercepted or not received by the potential winner for any reason. If, despite reasonable efforts, a potential winner does not respond within five (5) days of the first notification attempt, or if the prize or prize notification is returned as unclaimed or undeliverable to such potential winner, such potential winner will forfeit his or her prize and an alternate winner may be selected. If any potential winner is found to be ineligible, or if he or she has not complied with these Official Rules or declines a prize for any reason prior to award, such potential winner will be disqualified and an alternate winner may be selected. Odds of winning will depend on the number of eligible entries received. Prizes: Grand Prize: One (1) Grand Prize is available. The Grand Prize is two (2) coach class airline tickets to New York City sometime during October 9-12, 2014 for the Winner s Group (defined below) from the major commercial airport nearest winner's primary residence in the U.S.; a double occupancy room for two (2) nights at a hotel selected by Sponsor; two (2) three-day passes to attend New York Comic Con 2014; and two (2) tickets for the a double-decker bus tour of New York City. If, in the sole judgment of Sponsor, air travel is not required due to winner s proximity to New York City, ground transportation may be substituted for roundtrip air travel. Ground transportation between the airport and hotel in New York City will be paid and arranged for by Sponsor. All other ground transportation, meals, in-room or other personal charges at lodging (e.g., mini-bar, movies), telephone calls, gratuities, incidentals, souvenirs and all other expenses are not included. All travel, hotel and other arrangements must be made through Sponsor and will be determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion. The Grand Prize is for the winner and one (1) guest who is at least 18 years of age as of the date of departure (together, the Winner s Group ). The Winner s Group must travel together at all times, including between winner s primary residence in the U.S. and New York City. If the Grand Prize winner is less than 18 years of age as of the departure date, then the prize will automatically be awarded to his/her parent or legal guardian who must accompany the winner as the winner s guest. The total approximate retail value ( ARV ) of the prize is $3000.00 USD based on a Los Angeles, California departure example. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute the prize or any portion of the prize in its discretion with a prize of equal or greater value. Sponsor shall not be liable for any loss or damage if the Event is cancelled for reasons beyond Sponsor s control.
Runner-Up Prizes: Five (5) Runner-Up Prizes are available. Each Runner-Up prize is one (1) hardcover copy of The Young World, signed by author Chris Weitz. The ARV of each Runner-Up Prize is $19.00. The total ARV for the Grand Prize and Runner-Up Prizes is $3095.00. General Prize Conditions: All applicable federal, state and local taxes are the sole responsibility of the winners. All costs and expenses, e.g., meals, not specified as part of the prize (above) are the responsibility of each winner. No transfer, assignment, cash redemption or substitution of prize (or portion of prize) except by Sponsor due to prize unavailability and then for a prize (or applicable portion of prize) of equal or greater value as determined by Sponsor. All details and other restrictions of prizes not specified in these Official Rules will be determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion. Once scheduled, trip must be taken on dates and times arranged by Sponsor or prize will be forfeited in its entirety. Sponsor is not responsible for travel delays or cancellations or for Event cancellation or delay (in whole or in part). There shall be no compensation or prize substitution if winner, and/or any guest is/are unable to take scheduled trip by reason of illness, family emergency, personal events, terrorism, labor strikes, weather, or other acts beyond Sponsor's control. Prize will be forfeited if parent or legal guardian for Winner is unable to take scheduled trip by reason of illness, family emergency, personal events, terrorism, labor strikes, weather, or other acts beyond Sponsor's control. Prize Claim Documents: Each potential prize winner will be required within five (5) days of issuance of notification to: (1) execute and return a Affidavit/Declaration of Eligibility, Liability Release and (where legal) Publicity Release and any other documentation necessary for Sponsor to fulfill prizing (collectively, the "Prize Claim Documents"); (2) if applicable, arrange for parent or legal guardian to execute and return Prize Claim Documents; and (3) if parent or legal guardian is not required to accompany winner under these rules, arrange for guest of winner to execute and return Prize Claim Documents and Authorization Documents. Non-compliance with the foregoing may result in disqualification and awarding of prize to an alternate winner. If any prize notification letter or prize is returned as undeliverable, winner will be disqualified and an alternate winner may be selected. Confirmation of prize winner is subject to Sponsor's verification of the valid passports or other travel related documents and the Prize Claim Documents. Sponsor is not responsible for any lost, late, incomplete, illegible, undeliverable, misdelivered, returned, mutilated, damaged, or postage due mail or communications. Publicity Release/License to Use: By participating in the Sweepstakes, each entrant irrevocably grants the Promotion Entities and their respective successors, assigns and licensee, the right to use such entrant s name, likeness, and biographical information in
any and all media for any purpose, including without limitation advertising and promotional purposes, as well as in, on or in connection with the Sweepstakes and/or other promotions conducted by the Promotion Entities, and each entrant hereby releases the Promotion Entities from any liability with respect thereto. Further Documentation: If Sponsor shall desire to secure other documents in order to effectuate the purposes and intent of these Official Rules, then each entrant agrees to sign the same upon Sponsor s request therefor. General Liability Release/Force Majeure: Entrants (or their parents or legal guardians if under 18) agree that the Promotion Entities (a) shall not be responsible or liable for any losses, damages or injuries of any kind resulting from participation in the Sweepstakes or any Sweepstakes-related activity, or from entrants acceptance, receipt, possession and/or misuse of the prize(s), and (b) have not made any warranty, representation or guarantee express or implied, in fact or in law, with respect to the prize(s), including, without limitation, to such prize s quality or fitness for a particular purpose. Sponsor assumes no responsibility for any damage to an entrant s computer system which is occasioned by accessing Website or participating in the Sweepstakes, or for any computer system, phone line, hardware, software or program malfunctions, or other errors, failures, delayed computer transmissions or network connections that are human or technical in nature. Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, Sponsor is not responsible for incomplete, illegible, misdirected, misprinted, late, lost, damaged, stolen or postage-due submissions, prize notifications; or for lost, interrupted, inaccessible or unavailable postal system, networks, servers, satellites, Internet Service Providers, websites or other connections; or for miscommunications, failed, jumbled, scrambled, delayed or misdirected postal, computer, telephone or transmissions; or for any technical malfunctions, failures, difficulties or other errors of any kind or nature: or for the sole discretion to disqualify any individual who is found to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Sweepstakes or the Website, to be acting in violation of these Official Rules, or to be acting in an unsportsmanlike like or disruptive manner, or with the intent to disrupt or undermine the legitimate operation of the Sweepstakes, or to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person, and Sponsor reserves the right to seek damages and other remedies from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law. In the event Sponsor is prevented from awarding prize(s) or continuing with the Sweepstakes as contemplated herein by any event beyond its control, including but not limited to fire, flood, natural or man made epidemic, earthquake, explosion, labor dispute or strike, act of God or public enemy, satellite or equipment failure, riot or civil disturbance, terrorist threat or activity, war (declared or undeclared) or any federal, state, provincial, or local governing law, order, regulation, public health crisis (e.g. SARS), order of any court or jurisdiction, or other cause not reasonably within Sponsor s control (each a Force Majeure event or occurrence), then subject to any governmental
approval may be required, Sponsor shall have the right to modify, suspend, or terminate the Sweepstakes. If the Sweepstakes is terminated for Force Majeure before the designated end date, Sponsor will (if possible) select the winner(s) from all eligible, nonsuspect entries received from the applicable region as of the date of the event giving rise to the termination. These Official Rules cannot be modified or amended in any way except in a written document issued in accordance with law by a duly authorized representative of Sponsor. The invalidity or unenforceability of any provision of these rules shall not affect the validity or enforceability of any other provision. In the event that any provision is determined to be invalid or otherwise unenforceable or illegal, these Official Rules shall otherwise remain in effect and shall be construed in accordance with their terms as if the invalid or illegal provision were not contained herein. Governing Law/Jurisdiction: ALL ISSUES AND QUESTIONS CONCERNING THE CONSTRUCTION, VALIDITY, INTERPRETATION AND ENFORCEABLITIY OF THESE OFFICIAL RULES OR THE RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS OF ENTRANTS, WINNERS OR SPONSOR IN CONNECTION WITH THE SWEEPSTAKES SHALL BE GOVERNED BY AND CONSTRUED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE INTERNAL LAWS OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK WITHOUT GIVING EFFECT TO ANY CHOICE OF LAW OR CONFLICT OF LAW RULES OR PROVISIONS THAT WOULD CAUSE THE APPLICATION OF ANY OTHER STATE S LAWS.
