National Sector Results First Quarter 2018

National Sector Results First Quarter 2018 Canadian credit unions posted strong financial results in first quarter of 2018, enjoying another quarter of healthy growth. Total assets at Canadian Credit Union Association (CCUA) affiliated credit unions/caisses populaires rose by $14.7 billion, or 7.2 per cent, over a one-year period to reach $220 billion in the first quarter of 2018. Canadians had $186.8 billion on deposit with affiliated credit unions and caisses populaires, representing an increase of $10.7 billion or 6.1 per cent over first quarter 2017. Lending activity grew by 8.4 per cent. Number of Affiliated As of first quarter of 2018, there are 257 credit unions and caisses populaires in the CCUA affiliated sector. The decline in first quarter 2018 is partly due to the amalgamation of 12 caisses affiliated with L Alliance des caisse populaires de l Ontario Limitée joining together to form a single entity on January 1, 2018.
