IS ALL ABOUT GIVING MORE TO OUR MEMBERS WINTER 2016

Dear Fellow Members, I am happy to report that 2015 was a fantastic year for Notre Dame FCU, and with that comes excitement for continued growth and prosperity in 2016. While we are very proud to communicate strong earnings, we never forget that we are a cooperative and that means we work for you, our members/owners. So how does having a good year for the credit union translate into tangible benefits for you? In 2015, through our cash back program, we rebated $164,000 to our members who purchased or refinanced an auto with us. In 2016, we will continue to Pay it Forward in a variety of ways. Not only will we sponsor events you care about in our community, but we also plan to keep bringing you products and services that will make your lives less complicated and more secure. For example, in 2016 we will launch a new service to all credit and debit cardholders, providing enhanced security and control over your cards wherever you go. More than just freeze it! We will be one of the first financial institutions in the nation to offer this free service and we hope you decide to take full advantage of it. We will also continue our Elevate program to provide nationwide support to parishes, schools and other organizations. This is truly a groundbreaking initiative that is changing how organizations achieve their fundraising goals. If you would like to know more, please go to www.ndelevate.com. Lastly, you haven t seen the last of our cash back auto loan promotion either. We will continue paying our members up to $500 for each auto loan purchased or refinanced with us.* This will be in addition to rates and terms designed to lower your monthly payment and make life a little bit easier. At Notre Dame FCU, we strive to do everything we can to permanently enrich your financial life. That means continually looking for new and often innovative products and services. We hope that you know how much you mean to us, and that we are truly part of one big Notre Dame FCU family. As always, if you have any questions, suggestions, or comments, please do not hesitate to contact me at TGryp@NotreDameFCU.com. Happy New Year! Thomas J. Gryp 79 President/CEO *Earn 1.00% cash back, up to $500. Excludes Elevate program participating loans, Rate Genius loans and existing NDFCU loans. Offer may change at any time.

Six Most Overlooked Tax Deductions Are you taking all the tax deductions you are eligible for? We thought you might like a review of the deductions most often missed. Who among us wants to pay the IRS more taxes than we have to? 1 While few may raise their hands, Americans regularly overpay because they fail to take tax deductions for which they are eligible. Let s take a quick look at the six most overlooked opportunities to manage your tax bill. Reinvested Dividends: When your mutual fund pays you a dividend or capital gains distribution that income is a taxable event (unless the fund is held in a tax-deferred account, like an IRA). If you re like most fund owners, you reinvest these payments in additional shares of the fund. The tax trap lurks when you sell your mutual fund. If you fail to add the reinvested amounts back into the investment s cost basis, it can result in double taxation of those dividends. 2 Mutual funds are sold only by prospectus. Please consider the charges, risks, expenses and investment objectives carefully before investing. A prospectus containing this and other information about the investment company can be obtained from your financial professional. Read it carefully before you invest or send money. Job Hunting Costs: A tough job market may mean you are looking far and wide for employment. The costs of that search transportation, food and lodging for overnight stays, cab fares, personal car use, and even printing resumes may be considered tax-deductible expenses, provided the search is not for your first job. Out-of-Pocket Charity: It s not just cash donations that are deductible. If you donate goods or use your personal car for charitable work, these are potential tax deductions. Just be sure to get a receipt for any amount over $250. State Taxes: Did you owe state taxes at the time of filing of your previous year s tax returns? If you did, don t forget to include this payment as a tax deduction on your current year s tax return. Medicare Premiums: If you are self-employed (and not covered by an employer plan or your spouse s plan), you may be eligible to deduct premiums paid for Medicare Parts B and D, Medigap insurance and Medicare Advantage Plan. This deduction is available regardless of whether you itemize deductions or not. Income in Respect of a Decedent: If you ve inherited an IRA or pension, you may be able to deduct any estate tax paid by the IRA owner from the taxes due on the withdrawals you take from the inherited account. 3 1 The information in this material is not intended as tax or legal advice. It may not be used for the purpose of avoiding any federal tax penalties. Please consult legal or tax professionals for specific information regarding your individual situation. 2 Withdrawals from traditional IRAs are taxed as ordinary income and, if taken before age 59 1/2, may be subject to a 10% federal income tax penalty. Generally, once you reach age 70 1/2, you must begin taking required minimum distributions.3 Withdrawals from traditional IRAs are taxed as ordinary income and, if taken before age 59 1/2, may be subject to a 10% federal income tax penalty. At that time, the election of four members of the Board of Directors will be conducted. No nominations will be accepted from the floor at that meeting unless there are fewer nominees than vacancies on the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors Nominating Committee has recommended the following persons to fill the four vacancies on the board: Victor DeCola, Incumbent (three-year term) Mark Mullaney, Incumbent (three-year term) Rodney Donigan, Incumbent (three-year term) James Summers, Incumbent (three-year term) Included with this notice are certain biographical information and the qualifications of these persons who have been recommended by the Nominating Committee of the Board of Directors.
