Daily Practice 29.9.2014 Q1. 60.98 + 22.13-30 Q2. 4-3 x 5 Q3. Factorise 6x - 15-45 Today we will be marking the check-up on percentages and then starting mean and standard deviation. Homework Due! Q4. Solve 4(2x - 1) = 12 Q5. Find the value of a house that was worth 87 000 and appreciated in value by 2.3% per annum for 3 years Mean 29.9.14 To find the mean of a data set, add all the pieces of data together and then divide by how many there are. Mean 29.9.14 Find the mean of the following: Example: Find the mean of 3, 5, 7, 8, 6, -4 Daily Practice 30.9.2014 Q1. Find the area of this trapezium 13cm Q2. Find 71% of 800 37cm 10cm 12cm Q3. 2 1 / 5-3 / 7 Today we will be learning about standard deviation. Q4. Solve 3x + 1 = 14 2 Q5. (i) State the rule for the table (ii) Find G when H is 41 G 1 2 3 4 5 H 2 5 8 11 14

Standard deviation is used to calculate the average distance of each piece of data from the mean. It measures the consistency or spread of a data set. The lower the standard deviation, the closer together each piece of data is (more consistent). The Formula: s = (x-x) Use this one n = how many numbers you have Sample s = (x-x) Population Examples: this sample Daily Practice 1.10.14 Q1. Write 15 out of 25 as a percentage Q2. Find the value of a car once worth 5200 and depreciates by 7.6% per annum for 3 years Q3. Calculate the size of angle x 11cm x 0 16.5cm Q4. Q5. Calculate the size of the interior angle

Today we will be continuing to practise questions on standard deviation. Homework Online - Percentages (2) Due Monday 6.10.14 Daily Practice 6.10.14 Examples: Q1. Multiply out and simplify 6(2x + 4) + 3x(5x - 1) - 6x 2 Q2. Round 156788 to 3 significant figures Q3. Write 16 700 in scientific notation (b) Make 2 comments about the mean and standard deviation in the first match compared with the second Q4. Calculate the value of a house purchased for 91 000 and appreciated in value each year by 5% for 4 years Q5.

Today we will be continuing to practice standard deviation. Homework Due Today Daily Practice 7.10.2014 20 Questions Mental Maths

Daily Practice 8.10.2014 Q1. Solve the equation 3(2x + 5) - (x - 4) = 24 Today we will be completing a check up on standard deviation. Q2. Round 78152 to 3 s.f. Q3. Write 0.000176 in scientific notation Q4. Calculate the original size of a jar of coffee that is now 450g with 25% extra free Q5. Factorise 4x 2 - xy The median of a data set is the middle number (ensure that they are ordered from lowest to highest first). If there are two middle numbers, add them together and divide by 2. Today we will be revising over median, quartiles and inter-quartile range. The lower quartile is the median of the lower half. The upper quartile is the median of the upper half. Example: The range of a data set = highest number - lowest number. The inter-quartile range = upper quartile - lower quartile The semi-interquartile range = upper quartile - lower quartile 2 (b) The interquartile range and the semi- interquartile range

Example: Q1. Find of 210grams Daily Practice 21.10.2014 Q2. Multiply out and simplify 5(2x + 2) + 3x Q3. Factorise 5x 2 + xy Q4. State the rule for the table F 1 2 3 4 G 3 8 13 18 Q5. State the median and quartiles of 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8 Today we will be completing the pass around on median and quartiles. Homework Online Due Monday 27.10.14
