As you may already know, week commencing 12 th June 2017 is National Carers Week. This is an opportunity for us to recognise the valuable work this Country s 7.5 million unpaid Carers do and to appreciate the 132 billion they save our economy each year. The theme this year is building carer friendly communities. This year to celebrate National Carers Week, Wired is working in partnership with Wirral University Teaching Hospital to raise awareness and help Wirral to become a Carer Friendly Community. The Mayor of Wirral, Councillor Ann McLachlan and Consort will be launching Carers Week activities along with members of the Agencies for Carers Executive (ACE group) and invited guests at 10am in the foyer at the main entrance. Staff/volunteer members from many of Wirral s community organisations will be on hand to offer information and advice for most of the day.

A new parent carer forum is now in place on the Wirral. Parent Carer Participation Wirral (PCPW) is made up of parent carers for children and young people aged 0-25 with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). PCPW will offer service providers the views and concerns of parent carers to influence service development, design and delivery in education settings, the local authority and health providers on the Wirral. PCPW is the parent carer forum recognised by the Department for Education, Contact A Family and Wirral Local Authority as the voice of parent carers on the Wirral. PCPW will also be holding events for parent carers to gather their views and for information on areas of SEND. Details about PCPW and a joining form are available by email at, pcpw@wired.me.uk or telephone 0151 670 0777.
