Firearm and Game Licencees should call in person at the Police Divisional Headquarters which is nearest to their residence for the renewal of their Licences with the following documents:- National Identity Card (New); Proof of address (Recent Utility Bill); The Firearm/Game Licence for year 2017; The Firearm Licence Book; and Competency Certificate (Note:- The Certificate should be valid for the renewal of the Firearm Licence for year ending 2018). 3. Firearm licensees must bring along their firearm and produce same for inspection. They are also being notified that pursuant to Section 5(2) of the Firearms Act 2006, the Commissioner may direct any firearm in respect of which an application for a licence has been made, to be marked and stamped in such manner as may be prescribed with such additional identification mark as he may determine. 4. Holders of Competency Certificate are reminded that their Certificate is valid only for a period of five years as from the date of issue vides Section 6(4) of the Firearms Act 2006.

In that context, Certificate issued in year 2012 and 2013 have to be renewed and licencees are to bring along the following:- Two recent passport size photographs; Birth Certificate (Original and one Photocopy); National Identity Card (Original and one Photocopy); Proof of medical fitness (Medical Certificate (Original) issued by a registered Medical Officer(Private/Govt) with mention Physically and Mentally fit; Competency Certificate (Original to be produced and Photocopy to be attached for renewal); and A fee of Rs 1500- as prescribed in Regulation made under 2 nd Schedule of the Firearm Act 2006. 6. Corporate bodies must also produce valid copy of Company Licences for current year 2017 as well as Business Registration Card and Certificate of Incorporation/ Acte de Societe. 8. The prescribed chargeable fees are as follows:- Firearm Licence - Rs 2000- Game Licence - Rs 2500-. Competency Certificate - Rs 1500- Employee Permit - Rs 750- All payments are to be effected in Cash or by Office Cheques, i.e. cheques issued by banks and cheques bearing a bank visa drawn in favour of Government of Mauritius. 9. A surcharge of 50 % as prescribed in Section 12 (3) of the Firearms Act 2006 will be imposed on any Firearm Licensee who fails to renew his Firearm Licence by the 31 st December 2017.
10. Firearm licensees who fail to renew their Firearm Licences by 15 th January 2018 are hereby informed that, in virtue of Section 12 (4) of the Firearms Act 2006, their Firearm Licences shall lapse. Consequently firearms and ammunition in possession of the bearer shall forthwith be surrendered to the nearest Police Divisional Headquarters. K.M.
