About the PP Investment Awards The inaugural Professional Pensions Investment Awards (PPIA) celebrate excellence among the asset managers who serve UK occupational pension schemes. PPIA has been launched to recognise asset managers over a broad range of specialisms and shine the spotlight on those whose achievements may not always be recognised by the more general UK Pensions Awards. The awards process is unique within the industry with the shortlist being drawn up in association with Aon Hewitt, one of the leading investment consultants in the market, highlighting those asset managers who have demonstrated both excellent performance and growth in assets under management. Shortlisted entrants are then asked to complete a questionnaire detailing how they differentiate themselves from their peers detailing the product and client service innovations they have made over the 12 months to 30 June 2014. The winners in each category will then be decided by a distinguished panel of industry judges. Methodology The Professional Pensions Investment Awards shortlist was drawn up in association with leading investment consultancy Aon Hewitt and is based on both performance and relative growth in assets under management over the 12 months to 30 June 2014. However, we recognise the need for consistent performance so entrants were only shortlisted if they demonstrated both excellent performance over the past 12 months AND strong performance over a three year time period. Shortlisted entrants are then asked to complete a questionnaire asking them what makes them stand out from their peers in terms of both innovation and client service. The winners in each category are then decided by a distinguished panel of industry judges, who will include pension fund chief investment officers and trustees. The winners will be announced at an awards reception at the end of November. Page 3

Top 7 tips for PP Investment Awards success 1. Read this entry guidance it is there to help you! Also listen to the Q+A which was broadcast on Tuesday 23 September at 3pm. This can be accessed by following the link on our awards website: www.investmentawards.co.uk 2. Focus on achievements you have made over the time period over which the awards are being judged. You stand a much improved chance of winning the award if you focus on how you have differentiated yourself from your peers over the 12 months to 30 June 2014. 3. Excellent investment performance and growth in assets under management is taken for granted so please focus on investment process and innovation; new products; client service or other initiatives. 4. Make sure that you present your information in a clear, engaging and entertaining way. Short sentences and simple words are always best. 5. Think more about what the judges need to see to decide your firm is best in category rather than just giving them the information you want to tell them. Once you ve determined what the judges need to read, keep that as the main focus. 6. The competition is fierce so make sure you think laterally and think of ways to make your submission stand out from the crowd while ensuring that you meet all our requirements for length and size of submission. 7.
