Speakers' profiles Tan Hooi Beng Tax Partner, Deloitte Malaysia Technical Solution Group / International Tax Services Hooi Beng is the International Tax Leader of Deloitte Malaysia. He is based in Kuala Lumpur and has more than 16 years of experience in corporate and international tax. He has vast experience in advising multinational corporations on corporate structuring and restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, international offshore financial centres, business model optimization, tax treaties and cross-border taxation generally. Hooi Beng is an Associate Member of the Chartered Tax Institute of Malaysia (CTIM), a Chartered Accountant of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) as well as a licensed tax agent under the Malaysian Income Tax Act, 1967. He holds a Bachelor of Accounting from the University of Malaya. Ian Clarke Tax Partner, Deloitte Malaysia Transfer Pricing (TP) Ian is a TP Partner in Deloitte Malaysia, based in Kuala Lumpur. Ian has over 15 years of experience in TP. He has experience on policy design, implementation review, documentation and controversy management for clients across a wide range of industry sectors. He also has a particular interest in optimizing the pricing of risk in the value chain. Ian leads Deloitte SEA s Financial Services TP team and Deloitte s Asia-Pacific TP economists network on Finance. He also has extensive experience of negotiation with many leading tax authorities, including the US, UK, India, South Africa and Australia. He is a regular key note speaker in external seminars and has also published articles in leading TP or tax periodicals and publications. His educational qualifications include an MSc European Policy & Management, from Birkbeck College, University of London; MA Economics & Finance from the National University of Ireland and Bachelor of Actuarial & Financial Studies from University College Dublin. 3

Carol Eng Tax Director, Deloitte Malaysia Technical Solution Group Carol has more than 20 years of experience in tax compliance and advisory. She has been at the forefront of the Technical Solution Group of Deloitte Malaysia s tax practice. Prior to her joining the Technical Solution Group, she has served both local and multinational companies in Malaysia engaged in various industries such as banking and financial services, manufacturing, construction, trading, property development, services and investment holding. She has been involved in tax due diligence review on companies in manufacturing, agriculture, shipping, healthcare, consumer products, integrated logistics management and telecommunications. Carol is a Fellow of Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. She is also an Associate Member of Chartered Tax Institute of Malaysia (CTIM), a Chartered Accountant of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants and a member of Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA). Currently, she is an active member of the Compliance & Operations Working Group of CTIM, Tax Practice Committee and Capital Market Advisory Committee of MIA. Diamond Khanted Tax Manager, Deloitte Malaysia Goods and Services Tax (GST) Diamond is a tax manager of Deloitte Malaysia, based in Kuala Lumpur. Diamond has 7 years of working experience specialising in indirect tax compliance, advisory and litigation support services. He was actively involved in GST implementation projects which include planning and analysis, identifying and preparing of GST Gap Analysis reports, treatments and implications impacting the process, procedures and operations of clients. His portfolio of clients comprises of firms from the consumer business industry, service sector, etc. Diamond graduated in Bachelors of Commerce from University of Mumbai and has completed his Chartered Accountancy ( CA ) from Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. 4
