When Will Bills Be Available? MSU charges an Undergraduate full-time flat rate per semester for all students enrolled in 12-18 credits. As long as your student maintains this credit load your tuition and fee cost should not change. There may be a slight variation for courses that have an additional fee. Statements are updated at the end of each business day to reflect any changes to the student s financial obligation. These updates can include but are not limited to room, board, course fees, library fines, residence hall fines and any special fees or fines charged to a student s account. Once a student has registered for classes, they are responsible for all charges associated with that semester.

Health Insurance Health insurance is mandatory for all full-time undergraduate and graduate students as defined by the University: 12 or more credits for Undergraduate, will be $855 annually 9 or more credits for Graduate will be $1,242 The coverage being provided by the student health insurance plan has been improved in keeping with the premium increase. Students who have other coverage available will be able to waive out of the student health insurance plan. This can be done by completing the Health Insurance Waiver form available online only. A notice will be sent by our insurance provider to full time students when the site is operational usually the beginning of August. Health insurance is required both to protect against unexpected high medical costs and provide access to quality care. The new federal healthcare laws also require parents health care policies to provide coverage for dependents up to age 26.
Health Insurance In order to complete the Waiver process, please go to www.firststudent.com, select the "Enroll/Waive Insurance link, click on the link for Montclair State University. You will then click the waiver link and begin the process. Please follow the examples for completing the form. Again all waivers must be processed online. Once the procedure is complete, do not forget to print out a receipt for your records. The insurance premium charge will be removed usually the week after add/drop. This is usually the week after the first day of classes. The Schedule of Courses book available on the Registrar s Office web page (www.montclair.edu/registrar/schedulebook) will have the official calendar. When making payment prior to removal reduce the amount due by $855 for UG or $1,242 for GR. Either postcards, letters and/or a complete packet explaining the plan will be mailed to the address on file.
Important- Health Insurance Students who do not enroll for or waive coverage by the designated deadline, will be automatically enrolled in the school-sponsored plan and charged the applicable premium. All enrollment or waiver selection must be completed by the deadlines listed on the Student Accounts web site: www.montclair.edu/studentaccounts/policies/healthinsurance The University reserves the right to make the final determination regarding eligibility for the initial and continued enrollment in this insurance plan. The University reserves the right to audit all waivers in order to ensure compliance with the University insurance requirements. Student that withdraw will also be reviewed. Please be sure to have a copy of your insurance policy as you may be asked to provide this documentation.
Health Insurance Part-time students that need insurance coverage and student dependents may also enroll in the United Healthcare plan. Full details regarding the United Healthcare plan can be found at www.firststudent.com or contact United Healthcare directly at 1-800-505-4160.
