about the theme The Goods and Services Tax (GST) is a transformational tax reform which was intended to simplify the indirect tax structure of India. Since its introduction, the Government has played a pragmatic role by proactively attending to numerous legal and compliance issues arising from implementation of GST. The GST law has thus evolved during the past nine months with multiple amendments aimed at simplification of the new tax structure. With the introduction of GST, the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) also needed substantial changes to align the FTP schemes with the new tax structure. The recent supplement to FTP has also witnessed significant changes in the schemes, which are aimed to promote exports and to simplify the availment of the schemes by the exporters in the new indirect tax regime. The seminar is intended to provide an in-depth perspective about the recent amendments in GST and FTP and help the participants understand the interplay between the two. Page 5
