NAYGN - North American Young Generation in Nuclear Bruce Chapter BNPD-NA-YGNAdvisory@brucepower.com Tiverton, ON N0G 2T0 22MARCH 2018 Ms. Louise Levert Secretariat Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission 280 Slate St., P.O. Box 1046 Ottawa, ON K1P 5S9 To: CNSC Staff Members, I am writing to you on behalf of the North American Young Generation in Nuclear (NAYGN), who fully support Bruce Power s 10-year Licence Renewal application. NAYGN provides an avenue for professionals, early in their nuclear career, to develop as leaders within the nuclear industry. NAYGN membership is comprised of individuals under the age of 35, or with less than 10 years of experience in the nuclear industry. The Bruce Chapter currently has approximately 300 members. The Bruce Chapter of NAYGN organizes and hosts numerous events throughout each year directed at professional development, community involvement, and social integration. We create opportunities for our members at work and outside of work. Bruce Power provides highly skilled job opportunities to developing professionals early in their career. These job opportunities, which are fulfilled by area residents and newcomers, are what have placed Bruce Power on the Canada s Most Admired Corporate Cultures, and one of Canada s Top Employers for Young People from 2012-2018.

With the promise of a competitive career at a world-class company with an excellent corporate culture, new graduates and young professionals apply to Bruce Power each year. Many of our members move to the Bruce area as they are beginning their careers, and this acts as a catalyst to grow the local economy. Not only does Bruce Power recruit highly motivated, skilled, and educated young people but Bruce Power brings them to the area to live and become part of the local community. Many of our members buy their first home in Bruce County, start families and fill our schools, support local initiatives and charities, and patron local businesses. Bruce Power has also collaborated with the County of Bruce on the Economic Development and Innovation Initiative, which has seen more than 12 suppliers open offices along the Lake Huron shoreline. Due to this, the Bruce Chapter plans to increase our membership beyond the Bruce Power site to welcome those new employees to the area. With Major Component Replacement (MCR) on the horizon, more people are going to move to the area due to work at Bruce Power. There is no doubt many of these people are likely our membership demographic, which means our NA-YGN Bruce chapter will grow as well. A 10-year Licence Renewal for Bruce Power will mean certainty as MCR gets underway and will also provide our members today, and those still to come tomorrow, with stable, well paid jobs. Sincerely, Krista Gill On behalf of NAYGN - North American Young Generation in Nuclear
