Frequently Asked Questions Please note that the information here is relevant only to the insurance package of Hire A Camera please contact Aaduki Multimedia Insurance on 01837 658880 if you have any questions regarding the insurance. What is covered? Accidental Damage, Loss and/or Full Theft Does the premises where I will keep the equipment overnight need specific locks or an alarm? Yes. All ground floor plus any accessible windows will need to be fitted with key operated window locks and that all final exit doors have a five lever mortice deadlock fitted. (If the doors are made of UPVC then a door with an integral locking system whereby the lock engages with the frame at more than one point upon the turn of a key or handle is acceptable in place of a five lever mortice deadlock). If the value of the equipment hired is 30,000 or more the premises (your home address or otherwise) must also be protected by an intruder alarm system installed by and maintained under an annual maintenance contract with a NIS approved installer; the alarm must incorporate the REDCARE method of signalling. If you cannot comply with any of the security requirements you must contact Aaduki Multimedia Insurance with full details of the security at the premises and seek our written agreement to waive any of these security requirements otherwise you will not be covered for theft and/or attempted theft from the premises. Notes about security: A final exit door does not necessarily mean the front door only it is both front and back doors plus any other exit doors and in the case of flats/units within a building complex it is regarded as the door leading into the individual flat/unit and not any communal entrance exiting out of the building. If these requirements cannot be met please contact Aaduki on 01837 658880 to discuss. Do the premises where I will keep the equipment overnight need to be of standard construction? Yes. The Insurers ask that the premises in which you intend to keep the equipment overnight is built of brick, stone or concrete and roofed with slate, tiles, concrete, metal, asbestos or any other non-combustible material. If this requirement cannot be met, see "Is there an amount to pay towards a claim?" below. Does the insurance cover damage or loss if the equipment I am hiring is a drone (unmanned aerial vehicle/device), or if I use equipment I am hiring on, in or in conjunction with a drone (unmanned aerial vehicle/device)? No. This policy is not suitable and you will need to speak with Aaduki Multimedia Insurance to arrange insurance separately with them for your hire. Does the insurance cover damage or loss of the equipment if I have to place in into the hold of an aircraft? Yes provided that you have packed the equipment in sturdy, hard shelled, carry cases and not inside your usual suitcase.

Is the equipment covered whilst left in an unattended vehicle? Yes, provided that the equipment is left out of sight from the exterior of the vehicle in a locked luggage compartment or boot and all security protections fitted to the vehicle being in full and effective operation, all windows (including sun roof), are left closed, and if the vehicle is an estate vehicle it is fitted with a hard parcel shelf to form a closed off area within the vehicle under which nothing is visible from the exterior of the vehicle. For hired equipment with a value of 10,000 or more to be covered if left in an unattended vehicle, in addition to the above terms and conditions it is also a requirement that the vehicle is fitted with a factory fitted or professionally fitted alarm and that the alarm is left switched on when the vehicle is left unattended. You should note that the maximum cover for theft from an unattended vehicle with an alarm is 15,000 but if you require more cover than that you should contact Aaduki Multimedia Insurance on 01837 658880 to see if that is possible. Finally please be aware that there will be no cover for loss or damage as a result of theft or attempted theft from an unattended vehicle not individually attended between the hours of 9.00pm and 6.00am, if the vehicle has not been locked when left (and all windows and any sun roof left closed), from an unlocked vehicle, where there are no signs of violent and forcible entry to the vehicle or if the vehicle is a convertible, a soft top vehicle, or any other vehicle of a similar non enclosed type. For the avoidance of doubt you should note that cover for loss or damage as a result of theft or attempted theft from an unattended vehicle is only in place between the hours of 9am to 6pm and there is no cover outside of these hours. (It should be noted that leaving the equipment in the vehicle with a coat or blanket left covering it is most certainly not deemed to be out of sight it must be in a locked luggage compartment or boot or there is no cover)! You should not infer from a query raised with us that any adjustment in cover will be put into effect for you; any adjustment to the terms and conditions shown here will be confirmed in writing to you and Hire A Camera and the Insurers will only consider terms to be adjusted when such written confirmation has been issued. If you require wider cover please contact Aaduki on 01837 658880 to discuss. What if I am going on holiday and camping in a tent? If you are to go camping with the hired equipment the Insurers will waive their usual time restriction for cover from an unattended vehicle but they insist that overnight the equipment is left out of sight from the exterior of the vehicle in a locked luggage compartment or boot. At any time, and not just overnight, there is no cover following theft, loss or damage as a result of theft or attempted theft of any equipment from a tent, trailer or other similarly constructed structure whatsoever. (Proof of residence on a camp site may be requested in the event of a claim and we would advise you that you should obtain receipts from the site clearly showing your arrival and departure dates). What if I am going on holiday and staying in a caravan or campervan? If you are to go on holiday with the equipment the Insurers will waive their usual time restriction for cover from an unattended vehicle but they insist that overnight the equipment is left out of sight whilst inside the vehicle and that all windows are closed and doors lock and curtains are closed. (Proof of residence on a camp site may be requested in the event of a claim and the Insurers advise that you should obtain receipts from the site clearly showing your arrival and departure dates).

Is there an amount to pay towards a claim? Yes, to keep the premium down you will be asked to pay the first amount towards a claim as shown below: Theft from a Vehicle not individually attended You will be asked to pay the first 10% of each and every claim subject to a minimum of 500. Security If, whilst staying away from your premises, the address where you are temporarily staying is not secured against forced entry by intruders in accordance with Security Condition stated in this document, following theft or damage from such an address you are responsible for: a. the first 25% or 525 of each and every claim whichever is the greater where the Additional Insured is hiring equipment with a total value of less than 5000 b. the first 25% or 550 of each and every claim whichever is the greater where the Additional Insured is hiring equipment with a total value of 5000 or more Please note that if your premises do not comply with the security requirements as shown above under the heading Do the premises where I will keep the equipment overnight need specific locks? unless Aaduki confirm to you otherwise in writing there will be no cover for theft or attempted theft of the equipment, vandalism or attempted vandalism to the equipment, at or from your premises. Construction If, whilst staying away from your premises, the address where you are temporarily staying is not a building built of brick, stone or concrete and roofed with slate, tiles, concrete, metal, asbestos or any other non-combustible material, following fire, aircraft, lighting, explosion, storm, water damage you are responsible for a. the first 25% or 525 of each and every claim whichever is the greater where the Additional Insured is hiring equipment with a total value of less than 5000 b. the first 25% or 550 of each and every claim whichever is the greater where the Additional Insured is hiring equipment with a total value of 5000 or more Please note that should your premises not be of standard construction as shown above under the heading Do the premises where I will keep the equipment overnight need to be of standard construction? unless Aaduki confirm to you otherwise in writing there will be no cover for damage to the equipment, or loss of the equipment following fire, aircraft, lighting, explosion, storm, water damage. All other claims For all other claims you will be asked to pay the first 10% of each and every claim subject to a minimum of: a. 175 where you are hiring equipment with a total value of less than 5000 b. 200 where you are hiring equipment with a total value of 5000 or more

What happens if I damage or lose the equipment or it is stolen? Call Aaduki Multimedia Insurance immediately on 01837 658880. We will then want to discuss with you what has happened. We may send someone out to see you to discuss the claim in more detail if we feel this is necessary. Please note that in the event of any loss or theft, the incident must be reported to the police immediately and a crime reference number obtained. In the event of damage or loss by an airline you will need to obtain a Property Irregularity Report from the airline at the airport where the damage is first discovered (i.e. the airport in which you arrive discovering the damage or loss). We may need to send you a claim form to complete and return to confirm what has happened and if we do we will send a form to you immediately. Please be aware that you are required to provide any and all reasonable assistance requested of you and also to provide any documentation reasonably requested. (You may also be required under the terms of your hire agreement to report the incident immediately to Hire A Camera but you will need to ask them to confirm that). Is there any restriction where in the World the insurance will not provide cover? Yes, please note that cover outside the United Kingdom excludes countries where the Foreign Office or the British Government recommends, prior to the commencement of any journey, against travel to such countries, territories or provinces, village, town, city or other settlement or location. You can check this information by visiting the Government's website: www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice We or the policy underwriters do not undertake this check at any point during your policy period and it is for you to satisfy yourself that you comply with this condition. If after checking the Government's website you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. In addition, please note that the policy cannot break the law, so it cannot pay claims that break sanctions, prohibitions, laws, restrictions or regulations. Regardless of where you are in the World, if the Underwriters are prohibited by Law to make a payment, the policy would not pay out regardless of the type of incident or location where the incident occurred (this is not peculiar to the Underwriters of this policy but is something that all financial institutions and transactions are subject to).
