It can be observed that there is a huge scope for improvement of Public Sector Banks in all parameters, especially efficiency parameters. Suggestions are invited from the public at large for improvement of performance of Public Sector Banks.

Margins and Profitability: The New Private Sector banks again lead the pack on Margin and Profitability due to focus on urban areas and deriving higher efficiency in terms of business/employee and profit/employee parameter compared to PSU Banks and Old Private Sector Banks. The average Operating Profit Margin for PSU Banks is at 17%, Old Private Sector Banks is at 16% and New Private Sector banks are at 26%. Along with the efficiency parameters (discussed i n further detail later) the other factors that have contributed to the improved performance of new private sector banks is their ability to earn higher spread. The average spread for PSU banks is at 2.1%, whereas for Old Private Sector Banks and New Private Sector Banks are at 2.7% and 3.2% respectively.
