Heard it Through the Pipeline: Proactive Strategies for Securing Infrastructure Anti-fossil fuel sentiment continues to gain momentum and garner support across the country. In some instances, this has led to the delay or termination of natural gas infrastructure projects in certain jurisdictions. This panel will provide insight relative to how companies are addressing this challenge and pursing infrastructure development in various parts of the country. As well, we will hear from public officials who will provide their perspectives on pipeline expansion and how companies should think about interfacing with states and localities as they pursue these types of projects. This session will feature an overview of the goals and tactics of AGA s pro-natural gas advocacy initiative, Your Energy, which hopes to mitigate opposition to natural gas and facilitate greater industry support across the country. 10:30-10:45 a.m. Break Kyle Rogers, Vice President- Government Relations, AGA 10:45 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Natural Gas Expansion: Case Studies In recent years, increasing demand for natural gas for homes and businesses has resulted in the proliferation of innovative infrastructure expansion policies and programs in many states. In fact, 40 states now have or have considered some sort of innovative expansion policy. This session will feature company case studies relative to expansion, including an update on recently passed legislation in Ohio and Mississippi, as well as regulatory action currently underway in Maryland. The result has been a recent movement developed to promote the transition from the direct use of natural gas to electric technologies for things like space and water heating. This panel will include a discussion on the electrification movement and AGA s response. It will also include a presentation from ICF International regarding a study it is preparing for AGA that seeks to 3

This session will feature discussions relative to several sustainable growth opportunities for the direct and distributed use of natural gas including renewable natural gas, micro grids, combined heat and power, etc. Panelists will also discuss opportunities for growth in a low carbon environment. Some of these challenges and opportunities center on the increased awareness relative to methane emissions from the distribution system. Others have developed to promote increased customer satisfaction. This session will examine some of these technologies, including the roll-out of a methane detector pilot program in New York. The trend toward increasing pressure on capital expenditures and more frequent rate cases continues. Panelists will provide an indepth look at current regulatory frameworks, capital structures and ROE related issues. As well, panelists will provide some insight relative to how utilities should be looking at and planning for the future in both the near and long term.
