Notes to Unaudited Consolidated Financial Statements 1. Summary of Significant Accounting Policies Recently Issued Accounting Pronouncements In March 2017, the Financial Accounting Standards Board released Accounting Standards Update (ASU) 2017-07, Compensation Retirement Benefits (Topic 715). The amendments improve the presentation of net periodic pension cost and net periodic postretirement benefit cost and require that the employer report the service cost component in the same line item or items as other compensation costs. The other components of net benefit cost are required to be presented in the consolidated statement of operations and changes in net assets separately from the service cost component and included in the other gains (losses) line item of non-operating income. St. Elizabeth has elected to early adopt this new standard beginning with first quarter 2017. The amendments in this ASU have been applied retrospectively using the practical expedient. 8
