INPS Italian Social Security Institute INPS budget, is second only to the Italian State's one Institutional activity dimension : 19,5 million insured workers in the private sector and, since 2012, other 3,5 million in the public, sports and entertainment sectors; 1,3 million companies; 15,8 million pensioners; 4,9 million of income support benefits holders.

The contribution statement What is it? - It is the list of all the contributions that are registered in the INPS archives since the opening of the worker s insurance position, including figurative and redemption contributions. What is it for? - By consulting the statement, the worker can verify the presence of all contributions paid individually or by his employers. It s useful to have a clear picture and a summary of his insurance status.
INPS information assets: the payment of the benefits Pensions; Social assistance benefits (social and civil invalidity allowances, social card); Income support benefits and household benefits: in case of suspension, termination or job loss (wages guarantee fund, unemployment/aspi, mobility) to cope with the family burden (household benefit) in case of reduced capacity to work (sickness allowance, maternity leave, anti-tubercular treatments, allowed leave for disabled people)
The information assets coming from other social security institutions Central Register of Pensioners belonging to each social security institution which provides basic pensions or supplementary benefits; Central Register of every insurance position managed by every social security institution or pension fund; ISEE database of social benefits to households in specific economic circumstances; Central Social Assistance Register (project in progress).
The IESS project: partner INPS Previous collaboration experiences with MEF-DT and FGB: European project Innovative datasets and models for improving welfare policies to: Create a proper database named AD-SILC to integrate the INPS administrative archives with the survey IT-SILC 2005 conducted by ISTAT among the italian households. Sample AD-SILC characteristic: Anonymised individual data; Sample Representativeness and comparability at European level, ensured by ISTAT methodology used to collect the 'income and living conditions' of Italian households; Innovative elements with the introduction of information both of a socio-demographic kind such as level of education and household composition, and of the job characteristics such as seniority in terms of contribution, the income level, the employment relationship characteristics, that allow longitudinal analysis on the main aspects related to the individual's work history.
The IESS project: aims Create a new integrated database AD-SILC extending the observation period of the sample by: annual release of the sample ISTAT IT-SILC used to collect the Income and living conditions for the years 2006-2012; updating the work histories derived from the contribution statement and from the INPS archives regarding individuals included in the sample ISTAT IT-SILC. Study the labour market dynamics and evaluate the labour policies; Analyze job career and pension choices; Evaluate, through the dynamic microsimulation model T-DYMM, the adequacy of the social security.
The IESS project: data integration Main information in the integrated dataset: Unique and anonymous individual key; Age, sex and possible date of death; Contribution period starting and ending date; Number of contributions (expressed in days, weeks or months); Kind of contribution (employed, unemployed, redemption periods, sickness, maternity, voluntary contributions, etc.); company characteristic for the salaried workers; employment relationship characteristics (job title, province of work, operational management); Remuneration or taxable gross income for social security purposes; Management fund or social security institution; Pension characteristics (starting date, type of pension, seniority in terms of contribution, montly gross amount).
The updating process of the integrated database AD-SILC Sample Istat IT-SILC acquisition for the period 2006-2012; Match through the individual fiscal code between the Istat sample and the unique personal details database, the contribution statement, the central pensioners register, the central active workers register; Integration of the data of the employees with the data in the INPS archives trough the INPS identification code; Anonymisation of the sample ISTAT and INPS with the same key identifier.
