D 77 FUND DESCRIPTION tracks a market-cap-weighted index of emerging markets securities with less than $2B in market capitalization. FACTSET ANALYTICS INSIGHT offers no-frills, market-cap-based exposure to emerging markets small-caps. The fund is widely diversified (roughly 800 holdings) and looks a lot like our benchmark with a few exceptions. The fund excludes Korea, which makes up a large fraction of our benchmark, and overweights Taiwan instead. Still, the fund is a good proxy for the market, especially if you believe that Korea belongs in the developed market category. trades in decent volumes, but spreads can be significant at times and smaller investors will want to use limit orders to control costs. While also sports reasonable underlying liquidity for the emerging markets space, it has some issues with block trades due in part to a large creation unit size. charges a competitive fee for the space, and recovers a significant share of its expenses via securities lending. Despite this, tracking can be loose at times, and some investors might be put-off by the inconsistent performance.
