PROPOSAL CALL.1 The Strait Regional School Board (SRSB) will receive offers in the form of a proposal, signed and executed, clearly marked Chain Link Fence-MOC and submitted at the location and closing time listed above. All addenda issued during the bidding period shall become part of the Contract Documents. Bid Price shall reflect all addenda..2 Verbal answers to queries are not binding. Addenda will be issued..3 Clarifications requested by proponents must be in writing by 12:00 p.m. not less than three (3) working days before the date set for receipt of proposals. The reply will be in the form of an addendum, a copy of which will be forwarded to known proponents, issued no later than two (2) working days before the deadline for receipt of bids..4 Clarifications requested by bidders must be in writing not less than two (2) working days before date set for receipt of offers. The reply will be in the form of an addendum which will be posted on the NS Government Tendering site (www.gov.ns.ca). COMMUNICATIONS AFFECTING PROPOSALS.1 Communications affecting proposals must be in accordance with the most recent printed Policies and Procedures of the Public Tenders Office of Nova Scotia..2 Electronic transmission modifying bidder supplied information are acceptable when signed by the signatory of the original bid. Submission of such electronic transmissions is at the risk of the bidder. The SRSB assumes no liability for the receipt of the electronic transmission or for their proper inclusion with original bid. As a result, the aggregate amount of the contract is subject to HST; however, prices submitted shall not include HST..2 The HST payable by the Board will be added as a separate item during the processing of progress payments and therefore HST will not appear as a cost in the aggregate amount of tender..3 Invoices for the Strait Regional School Board should be mailed to: Accounts Payable, Strait Regional School Board, 304 Pitt St., Unit 2, Port Hawkesbury, N.S. The Contractor shall familiarize himself with the location where the work is to be carried out and tender is to be made based on existing conditions. No claim will be entertained for want of knowledge or unforeseen circumstances necessitating increased labour and material costs to execute the work..2 The Contractor is responsible to obtain all permits, comply with all codes, regulations, ordinances and all other laws and standards, including the Nova Scotia Occupational Health and Safety Act, pertaining to this work industry/trade and work environment. 3. The Contractor shall protect all property and fixtures and, at his own expense, repair to the satisfaction of the Strait Regional School Board any damage attributed to the Contractor s work. 4. The Contractor and any approved sub-contractor must be registered with the Workers Compensation Board of Nova Scotia. Coverage is to be maintained for the duration of this contract. Contractor may be required to submit a WCB Clearance Letter indicating that all WCB assessments have been paid. 5. The Contractor shall indemnify and save harmless the Strait Regional School Board against any and all liability, claims and cost of whatever kind and nature of injury to or death of any persons and for loss or damage to any property resulting from any act, fault or omission of the Contractor, any sub- contractor or anyone employed in the performance of the work specified herein. 6. The Contractor shall, at all times from the commencement of the work specified herein until its completion and at his own expense, maintain in accordance with the policy, terms and conditions comprehensive general liability insurance against claims for personal injury, death or property damage for a minimum of $2,000,000 in respect to any one accident or occurrence with respect to this project and shall, on demand, provide a Certificate of Insurance to the Strait Regional School Board, evidencing same. 7. Child Abuse Registry, Security and Criminal Record Checks The Regional School Board has an obligation to ensure the safety of students, staff and members of the public. To this end, all candidates for employment must provide both child abuse registry and criminal record checks. Any positive response must be reviewed as outlined in the Procedural Protocol: Child Abuse Registry and Criminal Records Check for Potential Employees as outlined in PRO V-A-2. The Board reserves the right to disqualify candidates whose records checks indicate evidence that they are unsuitable for employment in an educational environment. 8. The Contractor shall keep on the work site, during work progress, a competent foreman or supervisor. This foreman/supervisor shall represent the Contractor in his absence and directions given to him on minor matters shall be held to be given to the Contractor. Otherwise, directions will be given to the Contractor in writing. All employees engaged in the performance of work specified shall be skilled in the work being carried out.

The Strait Regional School Board representatives shall, at all times, have access to the work wherever it is in preparation or progress for inspection. If work is found to be not in accordance with specifications through fault of the Contractor, the Contractor shall pay the cost of corrective action. 10. The Contractor is to supply all labour, material and equipment, as specified, to carry out the work being tendered on. 11. Unless otherwise specified, salvaged material resulting from construction, surplus materials and construction debris shall become property of the Contractor, who must dispose of same away from site. The job is to is to be left clean, neat and in a safe condition to the complete satisfaction of the Owner.
