Sweet Extrication Training System Instruction For Use and Safety Guidelines The Sweet Extrication Training System (S.E.T.S. ) is a sole source patent pending one of a kind training simulator that is classroom based. It is meant to properly train novice through experienced students and first responders on patient removal techniques from a vehicle passenger compartment. It is our goal at S&S Medical Products to provide a high level of training and education while maintaining safety and diligence. Prior to use, please read the use instructions and guidelines within this document and watch the video presentations to safely build scenarios and train with your S.E.T.S. SAFETY INFORMATION It is the sole responsibility of the purchaser/users of the S.E.T.S. product(s) to read the owner's manual, warning labels and instruct all individuals, whether they are the end user, trainee s, trainers or supervising personnel on proper usage of the equipment. It is recommended that all users of the S.E.T.S. equipment be informed of the following information prior to use. Access Control S&S Medical Products, LLC recommends that the S.E.T.S. and associated training prop equipment be used in a supervised area. It is recommended that the equipment be located in an access- controlled area. Control is the responsibility of the purchasing entity. 1
Proper Usage Do not use any component of the S.E.T.S. in any way other than as designed or intended by the manufacturer. It is imperative that the S.E.T.S. be used properly to avoid injury. Keep body parts (hands, feet, hair, etc.), clothing and jewelry away from moving parts to avoid injury. Inspection While the unit is upright and on its wheels, always lock all the wheels when the unit is stationary Before rolling or flipping the S.E.T.S. ensure all loose components and additional training props, including the center console, glass breaker box, and pry- box are secured. Recheck everything after the unit is in the desired position. Do not use any component of the S.E.T.S. if you suspect manufacturing defects, damage to the frame or load bearing components, broken parts. For all S&S Medical Products equipment, only use replacement parts supplied by S&S Medical Products. Routinely inspect, clean, and repair any damage. Only use warm soap and water with soft bristles brush. Maintain labels and nameplates Do Not remove any label for any reason. Important information is depicted, if labels are not legible or missing, contact S&S Medical Products for replacements. Operating Warnings S&S Medical Products, LLC STRONLY recommends the following. Not following recommendations could result in injury or possible death, damage to the S.E.T.S., and negate the warranty. Never allow a trainee to be in the unit while the unit is being maneuvered. I.e. rolled or flipped. Except for the individuals involved in maneuvering the S.E.T.S. always have bystanders maintaining an assured safety distance from the training system. DO NOT cut, bend, or manipulate the frame/center console/dash/floor pan/wheels/b- Post of the S.E.T.S. DO NOT pin anyone or anything underneath the S.E.T.S. while it is in any position DO NOT attempt to break the Lexan components 2
DO NOT allow anyone to climb on top of the training system, at any time in any position. DO NOT move the S.E.T.S. on its own wheels at faster than a walking pace. At a minimum never use less than two adults to maneuver the S.E.T.S. regardless of the operation being performed. DO NOT use live victims unless the S.E.T.S. is in the upright position and the wheels are locked. DO NOT stack anything on the S.E.T.S. during use or while in storage. The ONLY positions the S.E.T.S. is to be used is on it wheels, on either of its sides, and on its roof. DO NOT position the S.E.T.S. on it back or front end, or on its windshield. During transit or assembly, DO NOT allow anyone within the frame, riding on the frame or in the built in seats. DO NOT just finger tighten the bolts and acorn nuts. Use a ratchet set to tighten each bolt, approximately 35 inch pounds of torque, per manufacture recommendation. Prior to use, every time ensure the bolts connecting the two halves of the S.E.T.S. are properly tightened/secured. Always wear eye protection (ANSI Z87 rated) when using the S.E.T.S. Always wear heavy- duty gloves when using the S.E.T.S. Always use cribbing on the A posts when the S.E.T.S. is on its roof. Always lock the wheels in the direction you are rolling the device please see video presentation. Roll the device towards you, lock the wheels inline with the direction you wish to roll, then continue to roll the device to its side, maintaining control of the device at all times. DO NOT drop the S.E.T.S. Always leave the Lexan front/rear/roof panels attached when rolling or flipping the S.E.T.S. Do Not Place In Any Of These Positions General precautions for the Glass Breaker Box Always have eye protection on when breaking glass (ANSI Z87 rated). Always have heavy duty (firefighter or extrication gloves) on when breaking glass. Ensure both latches that secure the glass breaker box to the training system are latched prior to use. Only break one piece of glass at a time. Only use window punch provided by S&S Medical Products. Empty the broken glass from the glass breaker box into an appropriate container. Always YELL breaking glass prior to breaking any glass. Ensure the S.E.T.S. is secure and stationary prior to using the glass breaker box. DO NOT use the glass inserts sold by S&S Medical Products for any other use except for within the glass breaker box. Always ensure the safety Lexan glass is intact and in place prior to breaking glass. ONLY use glass purchased from S&S Medical Products in glass breaker box. Using glass not purchased from S&S Medical Products could result in injury to user, damage to the glass breaker, and void the warranty. General precautions for the Pry Box Always have eye protection on when prying metal (ANSI Z87 rated). Always have heavy duty (firefighter or extrication gloves) on when using the pry box. Only pry one pry plate at a time. Properly dispose of used pry plates in a appropriate container. Only use prying tool provided by S&S Medical Products. Ensure the both latches that secure the pry box to the training system are latched prior to use. Always YELL prying prior to prying in the pry box. 4
Ensure the S.E.T.S. is secure and stationary prior to using the pry box DO NOT use the pry plates sold by S&S Medical Products for any other use except for within the pry box simulator. ONLY use pry plates purchased from S&S Medical Products in pry box simulator. Using pry plates not purchased from S&S Medical Products could result in injury, damage to the simulator, and void the warranty. General precautions for cutting seatbelts Only use seatbelt- webbing material in the latches that hold the seatbelts tight. DO NOT use anything except a designed seatbelt cutting tool when cutting a seatbelt. Ensure the S.E.T.S. is secure and stationary prior to using the seatbelt cutting simulator. Only use seat belt cutting tool supplied by S&S Medical Products. DO NOT use the seatbelt material sold by S&S Medical Products for any other use except for within the seatbelt cutting simulator. ONLY use seatbelt material purchased from S&S Medical Products in seat belt simulator. Using seatbelt material not purchased from S&S Medical Products could result in injury, damage to the simulator, and void the warranty. General precautions for the Pedal Bar NEVER use a live victims foot in the pedal bar simulator General precautions B Post simulator Ensure the B posts is secured prior to moving the S.E.T.S. in any direction S.E.T.S. Frame and Welds are warrantied for ten (10) years under proper use and unit is used within the guidelines of this instruction for use. Components named in the components sections of this manual are warrantied for one year from time of purchase under proper use and unit is used within the guidelines of this instruction for use Any product misuse, abuse or alteration, any attempt to repair by a person unauthorized by S&S Medical Products, any improper assembly, accident, or any other condition resulting from occurrences beyond the control of S&S Medical Products will void this Limited Warranty. S&S Medical Products will provide only replacement parts or repair under this warranty. The owner is responsible for all other costs. Such costs may include, but are not limited to: labor charges for service, removal, repair or reinstallation of the S.E.T.S. product or any component shipping, delivery, handling and administrative charges for returning parts to S&S Medical Products; and all necessary or incidental costs related to installation of the replacement parts. Touch up paint can be purchased from S&S Medical Products, LLC Warranty claims shall be initiated by the owner and submitted via email to S&S Medical Products at sets@ssmedpro.com or by calling 1-855- 887-7633.
