Prime Minister Launches India Post Payments Bank The Payments bank of the Department of Post has been launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi that will ease banking to the doorstep of every citizen through an diversified network of post offices and almost 3 lakh postmen and Grameen Dak Sewaks. The India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) is same as any other normal banks but its operations will be on a smaller scale with credit free risk. It will carry out all the banking operations like accepting deposits but won t advance loans or issue credit cards. The payments bank will accept deposits of up to Rs 1 lakh, offer remittance services, mobile payments/transfers/purchases and other banking services like ATM/debit cards, net banking and third-party fund transfers. The IPPB would be available through 650 branches and 3,250 access points. Suresh Kumar Sethi is the Managing Director & CEO of IPPB. India-Netherlands collaboration in Healthcare, including Ayurveda. Minister of State for AYUSH inaugurated the Fourth International Ayurveda Congress (IAvC) at the Netherlands. National Council on India s Nutrition Challenges under the Poshan Abhiyaan held in July 2018 in its second meeting decided to celebrate september as an National Nutrition Month every year. Under Bhamashah Yojana women of BPL Families to get free Mobile phones. Rajasthan government has decided to distribute free mobile phones to women under the Bhamashah Yojana in a bid to boost Prime Minister Narendra Modi's flagship 'Digital India' campaign. For the women of BPL families this scheme aims to transfer financial and non-financial benefits of government schemes in a transparent manner. Government of Rajasthan are making all the efforts to launch new applications so that the poor can receive all benefits by simply pushing a button on their cell phones. Civil Aviation Ministry - Vision 2035. Airports Authority of India, Ministry of Civil Aviation and International Air Transport Association (IATA) jointly organized seminar on International Aviation Summit in New Delhi. Under Vision 2035 Civil Aviation Ministry is planning to build 100 new airports across India in the next 10-15 years with an investment of USD 60 billion addressing the major issues concerning aviation industry such as airport infrastructure, taxation and use of technology. One-Nation-One-Card Policy in India soon for Transport. At Future Mobility Summit-2018 held in New Delhi, NITI Aayog revealed that India will shortly unveil a One Nation- One Card policy for public transport that will entail connectivity between various modes of transport. The objective of the strategy is to plan firstly for the citizens of India, than secondly focusing on vehicles alone, by providing sustainable mobility and accessibility. RBI s Internal Ombudsman Scheme, 2018. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) asked all scheduled commercial banks with more than 10 branches to appoint an Internal Ombudsman (IO). The apex bank has, however, excluded regional rural banks (RRBs) from appointing Internal Ombudsman. In order to strengthen the monitoring system and to enhance the its independence over the functioning of the IO mechanism, the central bank stated that it has reviewed the arrangement rolled out in form of Internal Ombudsman Scheme, 2018. PM Jan Dhan Yojana with more incentives to be an open ended scheme. With the motive of encouraging people of opening more bank accounts, the Government has decided to make the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) an open-ended scheme with more incentives. Firstly the overdraft facility has been doubled from Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 10,000 under the Yojana. Secondly the age limit for availing overdraft facility under it has also been revised to 18 to 65 years from the earlier 18 to 60 years. Also the accidental insurance cover for new RuPay Cardholders has been raised from Rs. one lakh to Rs. two lakh. The first phase of the PMJDY launched in August 2014 focused on opening basic bank accounts and RuPay debit card with inbuilt accident insurance cover of Rs. one lakh. Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana To Cover Child Cancer Treatment. The Union Government has announced that under Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, the treatment of childhood cancer will be covered. The child cancer will be treated under the Ayushman Bharat scheme and the rate in this regard has been fixed. Accordingly 1.5 lakh health and wellness centres will be opened across India by 2022 under the scheme. NITI Aayog member Vinod Kumar Paul announced this at a function in Delhi. J.P.Nadda is the present Minister of Health and Family Welfare. 'Yudh Abhyas 2018' To Start in Uttarakhand. A joint military training Exercise Yudh Abhyas 2018 as a part of ongoing Indo-US defence cooperation is scheduled to be conducted in the foothills of Himalayas at Chaubattia in Uttarakhand from 16 September to 29. This will be the 14th edition of the joint military exercise hosted alternately by both countries. 'Pradhan Mantri Annadata Aay Sanrakshan Abhiyan' for Farmers. The Union Cabinet has approved new Umbrella Scheme 'Pradhan Mantri Annadata Aay Sanrakshan Abhiyan, PM- AASHA. As announced in the Union Budget 2018 by the Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh in New Delhi, PM-AASHA aims at providing remunerative prices to the farmers for their produce. The Cabinet has decided to give additional government guarantee of Rs.16,550 crore making it Rs. 45,550 crore in total. This new Umbrella scheme comprises ofo Price Support Scheme; o Price Deficiency Payment Scheme (PDPS); o Pilot of Private Procurement and Stockist Scheme (PPPS). PM Modi Launches Swachhata Hi Seva Movement. Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the launch of 'Swachhata Hi Seva Movement' to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Along with birth anniversary this moment also marks the celebration of fourth anniversary of the Swaccha Bharat Mission. Swayangsiddha : Scheme to Combat Human Trafficking launched in West Bengal. Government of West Bengal has rolled out a scheme, Swayangsiddha with an attempt to combat human trafficking in different districts of the State. Swayangsiddha, which itself means self-reliance, will be executed by the West Bengal Police. The scheme aims to empower young boys and girls to make informed and all ready so that they are less vulnerable to trafficking and child marriage. West Bengal has highest recorded case of trafficking among the other States as per NCRB. Atal Bimit Vyakti Kalyan Yojna for Cash Relief To Unemployed Insured Persons. The Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has approved a new scheme, Atal Bimit Vyakti Kalyan Yojna for Insured Persons covered under the Employees State Insurance Act. The ESIC approved the proposal for increasing the funeral expenses from existing 10 thousand rupees to 15 thousand rupees being paid on the death of Insured Person. The decision was taken by the Labour Minister Santosh Gangwar in New Delhi. PM launches Ayushman Bharat - Pradhan Mantri Jan Aarogya Yojana. Worlds largest healthcare scheme is lauched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Ayushman Bharat - Pradhan Mantri Jan Aarogya Yojana from Ranchi, Jharkhand. Under this scheme, over 10 crore families will be provided health assurance worth five lakh rupees each, every year. Targeting more than 50 crore beneficiaries in the country, this is the world s largest government-funded healthcare program. The scheme will provide cashless and paperless access services for the beneficiary at the point of service. National Digital Communications Policy approved by Government. New telecom policy, named National Digital Communications Policy (NDCP) 2018, which aims to attract USD 100 billion investment and create 4 million jobs in the sector by 2022 has been launched by the government. According to the policy the main focus is on increasing high-speed broadband penetration, with use of modern technologies like 5G and optical fibers across the country at affordable rates. The policy ensures to rationalise levies such as spectrum charges to rejuvenate debt-ridden telecom sector, the proposed new telecom policy seeks to provide broadband access to all with 50 megabit per second speed, 5G services and create 40 lakh new jobs by 2022. Swachh Bharat Mission partnered with Google to launch the Loo Review campaign. The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, under the flagship programme of Swachh Bharat Mission, has partnered with Google to launch the Loo Review campaign to encourage all local guides in India to rate and review public toilets on Google Maps. 500+ cities in India with more than 30,000 toilets with the name of SBM Toilet are currently live on Google Maps. This campaign also allows all the citizens to locate public toilets in their cities on Google Maps, Search and the Assistant and also provide feedback on the same. Wage Compensation Scheme For Pregnant Women In Tea Gardens launched by Assam. Assam has become the first Indian state to offer a Wage Compensation Scheme for pregnant women working in the tea gardens of the state. Under the scheme, an amount of Rs 12,000 will be given to the pregnant women so that they can take care of themselves and the unborn baby. The compensation of wages to pregnant women will be given in 4 installments - Rs 2,000 in the first trimester, Rs 4,000 in the second trimester, Rs 3,000 for institutional delivery and Rs 3,000 for registration of the child's birth. The scheme will be launched by Assam Chief Minister Sarbanand Sonowal in Guwahati. 60 projects under Border Infrastructure and Management scheme approved by Government. Union Government has approved Rs 8,606 crore for 60 projects under Border Infrastructure and Management scheme (BIM) implemented in 111 border districts in 17 states. The scheme include construction of roads, schools, primary health centres, promotion of rural tourism, border India s Largest Online Test Series 4

tourism, cleanliness mission, promotion of sports activities, supply of drinking water, protection of heritage sites, community centres, connectivity, drainage, to enable sustainable living in border areas. It also includes construction of helipads in remote and inaccessible hilly areas which do not have road connectivity, skill development training of farmers for use of modern and scientific technique in farming, organic farming are some of the other areas where the projects are being implemented. Tamil Nadu Government s scheme for protection of exotic Neela Kurinji plants. Tamil Nadu government has announced Scheme for protection of exotic Neela kurinji plants that flower only once in 12 years. This scheme was launched to stop this rare and ecologically unique flowers from being packaged and sold on the commercial basis. It is because of these flowers, Nilgiri hills in southern tip of Western Ghats are called blue mountains. Government launches Cyber Crime Prevention against Women and Children portal. Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has launched Cyber Crime Prevention against Women and Children (CCPWC) portal to keep a check on objectionable content. The portal will allow citizens to lodge complaints on objectionable online content related to child pornography, child sexual abuse material and sexually explicit material such as rape and gang rape. It also has other features such as to report and track option allowing victim or complainant to track his/her report using his/her mobile number. Atal Bimit Vyakti Kalyan Yojna launched by ESI. The Employee s State Insurance (ESI) has launched Atal Bimit Vyakti Kalyan Yojna for providing unemployment allowance to workers rendered jobless due to change in employment pattern. The aim is to financially support those who lost their jobs or rendered jobless for some reasons due to change in employment pattern. Allowance will be payable in cash directly to bank account of insured persons in case of unemployment. Continuation of Capacity Development Scheme approved by CCEA. Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) chaired by PM has approved continuation of Capacity Development Scheme till 2019-20. It is ongoing Central Sector Scheme of Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation (MoSPI). Objective is to augment infrastructural, technical as well as manpower resources for making available credible and timely official statistics for policy makers and public at large. Economic census and Support for Statistical Strengthening (SSS) are the two sub schemes under it. Chhattisgarh government launched First Tribal Circuit Project under Swadesh Darshan Scheme. India s first tribal circuit project connecting 13 tourism sites in Chhattisgarh has been launched by Union Ministry of Tourism. Major components approved under tribal circuit project includes developing eco log huts, craft haats, souvenir shops, open amphitheatre, tribal interpretation centres, workshop centres, tourist amenities centres, viewpoints, nature trails, solar illuminations etc. This project will improve the existing tourist facilities, enhance the overall tourist experience and help in getting more visitors which in return will increase job opportunities in the area. Government launches Dairy Processing & Infrastructure Development Fund Scheme. Union Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare has launched Dairy Processing & Infrastructure Development Fund (DIDF) Scheme to boost Dairy sector approved by CCEA. Milk unions, multi-state milk cooperatives, state dairy federations, milk producer companies and NDDB subsidiaries can avail loan under this scheme after meeting eligible criteria s. Under this scheme, eligible milk organisations will be provided financial assistance in the form of a loan at 6.5% interest for building an efficient milk procurement system and other dairy processing infrastructure. Government extends Atal Pension Yojana. Union Cabinet decided to indefinitely extended Atal Pension Scheme by broadening its scope and keeping it open ended. Taking into consideration rise in average age-expectancy, age criteria for participation under this scheme has been increased to 65. Accident insurance limit has been increased to 2 lakh than earlier 1 lakh. The overdraft facility of the scheme was also increased from Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000. Delhi Government launches India s first doorstep delivery of essential government services. Delhi Government has launched scheme for doorstep delivery of 40 essential government services like caste and marriage certificates, driving license and new water connections. This is the first home delivery scheme in the country which will help to deal with corruption in delivery of essential government services and promote transparent governance.
