The Public Defender's Office of the Fifth Judicial Circuit will be prepared to participate in single session e-filing by October l, 2013. That being said, we will be requesting a deferral in our circuit's e-filing deadline. This requested delay is based upon the unnecessary burden and workload that single session e-filing will place on our staff. My office will support any delay that allows all interested parties to address any issues that prevent us from performing batch filing. This includes, but is not limited to, matters pertaining to the portal, training, and testing of the system. Additionally, we have been advised that the State Attorney s Office will be unable to implement e-filing or e-service on October 1 and intends to seek a deferment. To ensure consistency, uniformity, and efficiency of operations, we ask that any deferment granted to the State Attorney s Office or the Clerk of Court also be granted to this office so as to ensure we have the ability to properly test and train our attorneys on both e-filing and e-service.

Glades County Clerk of Court is developing a new case management system that is expected to be completed at the end of September 2013. As a result, the Public Defender's Office has been unable to time to test functionality or train employees. We have been advised there is a deferment request for this county until the Judicial Viewer is available.
