1. Lessn Descriptin Mdule 2 s cre message: Yu, the student, are the nly persn wh determines yur credit. The gals f the mdule and lessn: Teach the students that they are already invlved in the credit system. Shw the students that they have the ability t start their credit lives in a psitive way. Make the students aware f the bad financial and credit decisins they may already be making (r will prbably be making shrtly). Help the students see the dangers these decisins may pse fr their future financial life. Intrduce the students t credit tpics such as paying n time, minimum payments, and credit scres. Higher-level credit tpics include risk-based lending. 2. Objectives Knwledge Objectives Students will be better able t: Identify what a bad decisin is using examples based n teenagers cmmn mistakes. Identify the rle f credit in their lives. Identify what mistakes can be made with pr credit decisins. Explain the imprtance f paying n time. Explain the dangers f minimum payments. Identify what a credit scre is and identify the five factrs that cntrl credit scring. Identify and cmprehend higher-level credit terms such as risk-based lending. 2015 The FlPrf Fundatin 2

Classrm Methds Mdule 1 has been cmpleted, and yu have checked fr understanding thrugh the FlPrf test and yur wn evaluatins. Yu are nw ready fr Mdule 2. Remember that students can g back and review any mdule at any time. This mdule reflects a cre message f all FlPrf mdules: This is abut yur life right nw. Hw many times d students ask: Why d we have t knw this? Is it n the test? Hw des this affect me? Well, we finally have an answer. This is all abut yu. 2015 The FlPrf Fundatin 3

That is the premise f Mdule 2, Breathing Withut Air. Peple can t live withut air, and a persn can t live withut credit. It s a message yu can say again and again: This is abut yu. As in Mdule 1 s teaching plan, we will use a simple apprach. As an intrductin t Mdule 2, write the wrd YOU in big, bld letters n the bard. Ask students if they want their financial decisins t be made by themselves r by strangers. Ask them why they wrk and wh gets their paycheck. Ask them abut their financial persnalities: Are yu a saver r a spender? Open the discussin up t the class. Get them engaged in discussing the yu in relatinship t their financial decisins. Enjy Mdule 2, Breathing Withut Air. 4. Evaluatin Mdule 2 has a review and test fr evaluatin at the cnclusin f the mdule. T further check fr understanding, have the students make a list f items they wuld like t purchase. The list can be futuristic. Examples: A huse, sprts car, flat screen HDTV, etc. Once the students have shared their lists, have them turn the paper ver and have them list the five factrs f credit that wuld allw them t make thse purchases. If there is time, have them list the pr financial decisins that wuld cause them nt t be able t make their dream purchase. Once the task is cmpleted, have the students share with the class their thughts and pull a cmmn theme frm their ideas. List them n the whitebard, discuss quickly, and be ready by the next class perid t mve n t Mdule 3, Kick Sme Buck. 2015 The FlPrf Fundatin 4
