COUSE DIECTO COUSE OVEVIEW So Kim Lau EY LLP This one day course will provide an advanced groundwork of tax issues for insolvency practitioners, and will provide an in-depth analysis of key tax issues to be considered by practitioners. The course will aim to provide delegates with considerations of the key tax issues and principles arising from the trading, restructuring or sale of distressed businesses. He has advised on a wide range of fi nancing transactions, including securitisations, hybrid capital issuances, repackagings, credit linked instruments, stock lending arrangements and a variety of fi nancial products. > Duncan Lockhart joined Clyde & Co LLP in February 2016 having acquired substantial experience of both contentious and non-contentious restructuring and insolvency work. He has experience in acting for insolvency practitioners, debtors and creditors in respect of both corporate and personal insolvency processes including distressed sales, bankruptcy, administrations, liquidations and voluntary arrangements. > Gemma France is an experienced director in Deloitte s restructuring services tax team, specialising in structuring, business review and implementation advice on complex international restructuring transactions. > Mairead Warren de Burca joins Alvarez and Marsal in August 2016 and was prior to this a VAT director at EY LLP. Since 2006 she has specialised in private equity and corporate transactions, and restructuring and insolvency projects. > Morgan Montgomery is a VAT manager in Grant Thornton s Birmingham offi ce. Morgan has expertise on advising businesses involved with international supply chains and overseas processing of goods and has previously worked for KPMG and HMC. > Philip idgway joined chambers when he returned to the Bar in June 2007. He advises on all areas of revenue law, both corporate and personal, but has a particular interest in corporate tax matters including, acquisitions and disposals, reconstructions and demergers, MBOs, returning capital to shareholders, s425 schemes, SDLT, stamp duty and SDT. > So Kim Lau is an associate director in the restructuring and insolvency practice at EY LLP. Kim predominantly advises banks and fi nanciers on distressed situations having both fi nancial advisory and formal insolvency experience across a range of businesses and sectors. > Stuart Sinclair is a tax partner and advises on all aspects of corporate tax, focusing on domestic and international restructurings and reorganisations, mergers and acquisitions, structured fi nance arrangements and fi nancial instruments. Stuart also advises on tax aspects of a broad range of investment fund matters, including the formation of funds and asset management businesses, and the structuring of transactions entered into by funds. > Suwin Lee is a partner in EY s transaction tax practice with over 20 years experience in corporate tax, including a one year secondment to the New York offi ce. She leads EY s restructuring tax practice in the UK and Europe and has signifi cant experience on UK and global transactions. She works with a number of private equity investors, distressed funds and banks, and advises them on acquisitions, restructuring and exits of stressed and distressed businesses. > Tim Jarvis is a partner at Squire Patton Boggs and his practice focuses on private equity, banking and corporate fi nance transactions. Tim also has extensive experience in relation to VAT planning and administration and also in relation to stamp duty and stamp duty land tax planning.
