This second forum will focus on the tools needed for a successful investment strategy. Given our emphasis on promoting good ethics, Mr. Gary Ng, CFA, Managing Director of Private Equity, CSLA Capital Partners and board member of CFA Singapore will give a short presentation about the importance of ethics. We will then start with addressing risk. Specifically, What can go wrong? Mr. Andy Tan, CFA, Market Risk Manager with JP Morgan will present on the topic: Nothing comes for free. The market is efficient. Increased returns come with increased risks. Given our global environment, investment activities are not restricted to the local market. Our next presenter will discuss the two-faces of foreign exchange a noise to hedge away or a source of return to actively pursue. The fact that it is also a medium of exchange and an instrument of policy makes it a particularly difficult beast to manage or exploit. Speakers Bio data Dr. Tony Tan, CFA Dr. Tan is the founder of Governance & Treasury Advisory Services, a company providing consulting and training services. He also volunteers his time with CFA Institute in the US as a member of its Capital Markets Policy Council and Chairs the Advocacy and Senior Members committees of CFA Singapore. As a believer on the foundational values of ethical behaviour, Dr. Tan lectures frequently on this topic. People attending his presentations have come from multi-national corporations, global banks, educational institutions and professional organizations all over the world. Locally, he shares his experiences in public forums on investing using a governance approach at many events including those organized by SGX and SIAS. Dr. Tan has over 20 years experience working in the international financial markets. During that period, he has been involved with financing projects in the oil and gas industry, advising central banks & financial developmental institutions on risk management issues and managing the global capital markets trading operation of a UK financial institution. Under his leadership, his team has won numerous awards including EEMEA Asset Back and the Emerging Markets deal of the year awards. Dr.Tan holds the Doctor of Business Administration and Master of Management Research degrees from the University of Western Australia, a Master of Science degree in Financial Economics from the University of London and is a CFA charterholder. Mr. Gary Ng, CFA Mr Ng joined CLSA Capital Partners in 2000 and has over 15 years experience in finance and private equity. He has been responsible for a number of investments in India and South-East Asia. He has also participated in a number of transactions in the consumer and industrial sectors in China, Korea, India and South-East Asia. He currently oversees the South East Asia and South Asia investments. Prior to CLSA Capital Partners, he was with PricewaterhouseCoopers for close to 4 years. Mr. Ng received his Bachelor of Accountancy from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Certified Public Accountant (CPA). He actively volunteers as a Board Member and Exco Member of CFA Singapore. Mr. Andy Tan, CFA Mr Tan is a Market Risk Manager with JP Morgan. He is part of the Global Emerging Markets Market Risk team managing market risk for the investment bank focusing on Asia FX and Interest Rates. Speakers Bio data Mr Alan Lok, CFA Mr Lok is the Director of Sabio Global Singapore and has 10 years experience in the finance and strategic consulting industry spanning across Australia, China, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore. Alan joined Sabio Global Singapore in 2009 and successfully spear headed the equity research and corporate training divisions. As the anchor speaker for Sabio Global, Alan appears regularly on media such as CNBC and The Straits Times where he expresses his views on issues related to behavioral finance and macroeconomics. Prior to joining Sabio Global, Alan was an Investment Analyst with SIAS (Security Investment Association of Singapore) Research, the largest independent research house in South East Asia with over 120 Singapore Exchange and Bursa Malaysia-listed companies under coverage.
