Management's Responsibility for the Financial Statements The Management is responsible for the preparation of these financial statements that gives a true and fair view of the financial position, financial performance and cash flows of the party in accordance with the Accounting Standards issued by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. The responsibility also includes the design, implementation and internal control relevant to the preparation and presentation of the financial statements that give a true and fair view and are free from material misstatement, whether due to fraud or error. Auditor's Responsibility Our responsibility is to express an opinion on these financial statements based on our audit. We conducted our audit in accordance with the Standard on Accounting issued by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. Those Standards require that we comply with the ethical requirements and plan and perform the audit to obtain reasonable.assurance about whether the financial statements are free from material misstatement. An audit involves performing procedures to obtain audit evidence about the amounts and disclosures in the financial statements. The procedures selected depend on the auditor's judgment, including the assessment of the risks of material misstatement of the financial statements, whether due to fraud or error. In making those risk assessments, the auditor considers internal financial control relevant to the Party's preparation of the financial statements that give true and fair view in order to design audit procedures that are appropriate in the circumstances. An audit also includes evaluating the appropriateness of accounting policies used and the reasonableness of the accounting estimates made by Company's Directors, as well as evaluating the overall presentation of the financialstatements. Opinion In our opinion and to the best of our information and according to the explanations given to us, the aforesaid financial statements, give the information required by the applicable law in the manner so required and give a true and fair view in conformity with the accounting principles generally accepted in India; a) in the case of the Balance Sheet, of the state of affairs of the Company as at March 31, 2016;. b) in the case of the Statement of Income & Expenditure Account, of the Excess on Income over Expenditure for the year ended on that date; and c) in the case of the Cash Flow Statement, of the cash flows for the year ended on that date. Report on other Legal and Regulatory Requirements We report that: a) We have sought and obtained all the information and explanations which to the best of our knowledge and belief were necessary for the purposes of our audit. b) In our opinion proper books of account as required by law have been kept by the Party so far as appears from our examination of those books. c) The Balance Sheet, the Statement of Income & Expenditure Account, and Cash Flow Statement dealt with by this Report are in agreement with the books of account. NATIONALIST CONGRESS PARTY Schedule No. :13 SignificantAccounting Policies & Notes to Accounts Basis of Accounting and Preparation of Financial Statements The financial statements of the Party have been prepared in accordance with the Generally Accepted AccountingPrinciples in India ("Indian GAAP") and with the Accounting Standards recommended by The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. The financial statements have been prepared on accrual basis under the historical cost convention. 1. Financial Statements have been prepared as historical cost and conventions in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. 2. Voluntary contributions and membership fee are recognized on cash basis. All other income.and expenditure having material bearing are accounted on accrual basis. 3. Tangible assets Fixed assets are carried at cost less accumulated depreciation and impairment losses, if any. The cost of fixed assets includes its purchase price net of any trade discounts and rebates, any import duties and other taxes (other than those subsequently recoverable from the tax authorities), any directly attributable expenditure on making the asset ready for its intended use, other incidental expenses. 4. Depreciation Fixed assets are stated at cost of acquisition less accumulated depreciation. 5. Cash Flow Statement Cash flows are reported using the indirect method. The Party has complied with the applicable provision of the Income Tax Act, 1961and the Representation of People Act, 1951 and accordingly eligible for exemption of its income U/s 13A,of Income Tax No Contingent liabilities during the year. 3. As recommended by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India format of the financial statements presentation has been changed to comply with the disclosure requirement. Previous year figures are rearranged and regrouped wherever necessary to confirm to the classification adopted in the current year. 4.
