1 Updated 08/27/ Conversion Instructions TaxACT to ATX Individual TaxACT is a registered trademark of 2nd Story Software, Inc.2nd Story Software, Inc. does not sanction nor participate in this conversion project. ATX is a registered trademark of Universal Tax Systems, Inc. and its affiliates and/or licensors. Before conversion begins The following will be needed: A full installation of the ATX 2016 program A full installation of the TaxAct 2016 program Internet connection Update to the latest version of ATX Please note: Due to differences between tax programs, not all data from your original returns will be converted. The conversion utility and ATX does not recreate your original 2016 return. Once your original returns are converted, you should check all returns to ensure accurate calculations. After you verify your returns, further processing of your 2016 tax returns in ATX is unnecessary. For depreciation returns, please see the Special Notes for Depreciation section. The rollover portion of the conversion will be activated with the first release of ATX for Conversion Instructions To update the program and download the conversion utility, use the following steps: 1. Your converted returns are now imported into ATX Special Notes for Depreciation Tax programs utilize many different combinations of Depreciation methods. Some methods of depreciation listed in your prior program may not be able to be converted into ATX. For all assets containing state depreciation, you should enter the state information manually. We strongly advise you to check your depreciation closely to verify that each asset is correctly represented in ATX

3 Verify all converted Asset Categories, Methods, and Convention Codes in returns containing depreciation. You should verify all returns containing depreciation and amortization for accuracy. ATX does not convert all the Form 4562 or Depreciation Worksheets from TaxAct. If there are assets in TaxAct that you would like to carryforward from year to year in ATX and these assets did not convert then these assets will have to be entered manually. Depreciation may or may not convert to the correct parent form. You may or may not need to change the parent form. Individual Conversion Items to Note Calculated and Overridden Fields Due to the differences in which information is stored in calculated and overridden fields, you should verify all returns containing the forms listed below for accuracy. Schedule K-1s Schedule A Schedule C Schedule D Schedule E At-Risk Indicators Vehicle expenses Vehicle expenses on Schedule C, Schedule E, Form 2106, Schedule F and Form 4835 may not convert to ATX due to the different ways that the information is stored in the PDF for TaxAct. Form 2441 The Providers and qualifying expenses on Form 2441 may not convert due to the different pages shown in the PDF. If total amounts are available for any of the forms, schedules, and worksheets listed below, then only the totals will be converted and not the individual or contributing amounts. The contributing or individual amounts will only be converted if the total is not available for conversion. What data will be converted? 1040 Conversion Items Client Information Taxpayer name Spouse name Taxpayer social security number Spouse social security number Filing status Presidential election Taxpayer occupation Spouse occupation Street address City State Zip Taxpayer blind Spouse blind Married Filing Separately spouse name Married Filing Separately spouse SSN HH Qualifying dependent name Taxpayer phone number - home Taxpayer phone number- cell Dependent Information Dependent first name Dependent last name Dependent SSN - 3 -
