No : 019/2012 All NSE Members, Sub: Dissemination of Indices in Futures and Options Segment This is in reference to Capital Market circular No.011/2012 (download no. NSE/CMTR/19982) dated February 9, 2012 and 014/2012 (download no. NSE/CMTR/20103) dated February 23, 2012 regarding online dissemination of three indices in Capital Market segment, wherein members have been informed that the values of these indices will be provided in the multiple index inquiry screen in NEAT and NEATPRO. The details and fact sheet of the indices are given in Annexure 1, Annexure 2 and Annexure 3 respectively. 3 FACTSHEET The CNX Commodities Index is designed to reflect the behaviour and performance of a diversified portfolio of companies representing the commodities segment which includes sectors like Oil, Petroleum Products, Cement, Power, Chemical, Sugar, Metals and Mining. The CNX Commodities Index comprises of 30 companies that are listed on the National Stock Exchange (NSE). Methodology: The index is calculated using free float market capitalization methodology with a base date of January 1, 2004 indexed to a base value of At the time of rebalancing of shares/ change in index constituents/ change in investable weight factors (IWFs), the weightage of the index constituent (where applicable) is capped at 8%. Weightage of such stock may increase up to a maximum of 10% between the rebalancing periods. Market Representation: The CNX Commodities Index represents about 18.83% of the free float market capitalization of the stocks listed on NSE and % of the free float market capitalization of the stocks forming part of the Commodities segment universe as on Dec. 30, The traded value for the last six months of all index constituents is approximately 17.20% of the traded value of all stocks on NSE and % of the traded value of the stocks forming part of the Commodities segment universe. Selection Criteria: The criteria for the CNX Commodities Index include the following: 1. Companies must rank within the top 500 companies ranked by average free-float market capitalisation and aggregate turnover for the last six months. 2. Company should form part of Commodities sector. 3. The company s trading frequency should be at least 90% in the last six months. 4. The company should have reported a positive net worth. 5. The company should have an investable weight factor (IWF) of at least 10% 6. The company should have a listing history of 6 months. A company, which comes out with an IPO will be eligible for inclusion in the index, if it fulfils the normal eligibility criteria for the index for a 3 month period instead of a 6 month period. 7. Final selection of 30 companies shall be done based on the free-float market capitalization of the companies. 8. The review will take place on a semi-annual basis. Regd. Methodology: The index is calculated using free float market capitalization methodology with a base date of January 2, 2006 indexed to a base value of At the time of rebalancing of shares/ change in index constituents/ change in investable weight factors (IWFs), the weightage of the index constituent (where applicable) is capped at 8%. Weightage of such stock may increase up to a maximum of 10% between the rebalancing periods. A company which comes out with an IPO will be eligible for inclusion in the index, if it fulfills the normal eligibility criteria for the index for a 3 month period instead of a 6 month period. 7. 10 FACTSHEET The CNX Finance Index is designed to reflect the behavior and performance of the Indian financial market which includes banks, financial institutions, housing finance and other financial services companies. The CNX Finance Index comprises of 15 stocks that are listed on the National Stock Exchange (NSE). Methodology: The CNX Finance Index is computed using free float market capitalization method with a base date of January 1, 2004 indexed to a base value of 1000, wherein the level of the index reflects the total free float market value of all the stocks in the index relative to particular base market capitalization value. The method also takes into account constituent changes in the index and importantly corporate actions such as stock splits, right issue, new issue of shares etc. without affecting the index value. Market Representation: The CNX Finance Index represents about 17.69% of the free float market capitalization of the stocks listed on NSE and % of the free float market capitalization of the stocks forming part of the Finance segment universe as on December 30, The traded value of all index constituents for the last six months (ending Dec 2011) is approximately 18.89% of the traded value of all stocks on NSE and 78.56% of the traded value of the stocks forming part of the Finance segment universe. Selection Criteria: The criteria for the CNX Finance Index include the following: 1. Companies must rank within the top 500 companies by average free-float market capitalization and aggregate turnover for the last six months. 2.
