2 FIX Gateway Extending your reach to the market The FIX Gateway is a message routing service using the FIX Protocol, combining single FIX connection to multiple global liquidity pools, including participants not The London Stock Exchange has utilised its existing infrastructure to provide a service to the wider FIX community. This takes advantage of our experience in delivering highly reliable trading systems for the UK market, using the latest technology. The Exchange has developed the FIX Gateway in partnership with its customers to be one of the most robust and universal solutions in the market. 2 LONDON STOCK EXCHANGE 3
3 connects the user to their choice The FIX Gateway is a completely neutral service with a flexible open architecture. The Exchange does not prescribe which OMS or connectivity should be used as the service is universal in its application. As a result it can be configured and customised to suit your needs, which makes it flexible and cost-efficient. Because the FIX Gateway is effectively an invisible hub, it behaves as an end-to-end solution that enables the buy side to view the real-time status of brokers before sending orders to them. The service s inherent transparency significantly reduces the risk of message failures and the subsequent losses that could otherwise occur. The FIX Gateway offers one single point of connection and effectively connects the user to their choice of liquidity pools. Constantly evolving Fundamental to the FIX Gateway s attraction is its ability to be tailored to individual client demands. Orders can be forwarded by brokers to their regional offices, via the FIX Gateway, and the service allows the addition of brokers, both UK and international, to meet your needs. UnaVista is the London Stock Exchange s secure hosted platform for all matching, validation and reconciliation needs. The FIX Gateway provides access to UnaVista s offerings that includes Transaction Reporting, Confirmations Portal, Swaps Portal, Reconciliations as well as reference data services. Post MiFID the FIX Gateway offers a cost effective route for European OTC trade reporting to the London Stock Exchange for both Members and Non-Members firms. The Exchange provides free end-to-end testing of the service linking your business with a firm of choice on either the buy or sell side. We also actively monitor connection status to the Gateway and communicate with the firms directly to resolve any issues. 4 Robust technology The Exchange has unrivalled reliability with its core trading platform, and those same exacting standards have been used in the design of the FIX Gateway. The system is fully fault tolerant, is monitored 24 hours a day by our dedicated support desk and has a full disaster recovery system. The FIX Gateway was developed from inception to conform to the standard FIX protocol. Furthermore, the service is ready to take advantage of the richer functionality offered as new message versions are released; eg it can be developed to handle FIX 4.4 if required. The FIX Gateway has been designed to minimise user error IOIs are delivered via FIX directly into a client s OMS. There is no need for re-keying, thereby significantly reducing the potential for mistakes to occur. Another key benefit of the service is that IOIs can be filtered, tracked and analysed, if required.
