5 NRECA Hearing Benefits NRECA benefit unchanged since 1984 Hearing aids must be necessitated by impairment of hearing following ear surgery or due to traumatic injury. Currently no benefit will be paid for replacement of a hearing aid for any reason. The Plan will cover a maximum up to $750 per ear in eligible hearing aid charges in a covered person s lifetime. Hearing Benefits: 2018 Enhancement Benefit changes for 2018 under NRECA Medical Plan: Removal of restrictive benefit language Significantly increasing the benefit amount Modernizing lifetime maximum to $10,000 in eligible expenses.
