3 Methodology This study was conducted on the Galaxy Online Omnibus between Thursday 26 May and Sunday 29 May, The sample was 1,000 Australians aged 18 years and older distributed throughout Australia, as follows: NSW/ACT 329 Victoria/Tasmania 280 Queensland 198 South Australia 101 Western Australia 92 Age, gender and area quotas were applied to the sample. Following the completion of interviewing, the data was weighted by age, gender and area to reflect the latest ABS population estimates. 3
4 2 Main Findings
5 Main Findings o The majority of Australians (84%) agree that participation in quality early learning in the years before school boosts children s development. o Most Australians (85%) agree that ensuring all children can participate in quality early learning is important for Australia s future prosperity. o At the next federal election, 32% of Australians say they would be more likely to vote for a candidate committed to increasing access to quality affordable child care and early learning. In contrast, only 6% say they would be less likely to vote for such a candidate. o People aged (44%) and those with children (43%) are the most likely to vote for a candidate who supports affordable child care and early learning. o Labor (42%) and Green voters (43%) are more likely than Coalition voters (25%) to vote for a candidate committed to child care and early learning. 5

Weights: This indicates that in order to reflect the latest ABS population estimates the data has been weighted by age, gender and area.
