26 GASB 74 and GASB 75 In June 2015, GASB released two statements aimed at improving financial reporting by state and local governments of other postemployment benefits (OPEB), such as group life and retiree health insurance. Statement No. 74 (applies to Plan), Financial Reporting for Postemployment Benefit Plans Other Than Pension Plans Statement No. 75 (applies to Employer), Accounting and Financial Reporting for Postemployment Benefits Other Than Pensions 26
27 GASB 74 and GASB 75 The disclosure requirements of GASB 74 and 75 will be similar to the disclosure requirements for pension benefits under GASB 67 and GASB 68: Total OPEB Liability (TOL), Net OPEB Liability (NOL), OPEB Expense (OE), Deferred Inflows, Deferred Outflows, etc. Proportionate share of the total for employers in cost-sharing plans Effective date for VRS plans (GASB 74) is the fiscal year ending June 30, 2017 Effective date for VRS employers (GASB 75) is the fiscal year ending June 30,
