3 Beating benchmarks is important but the real benchmark is having the money to achieve your missions. If you want to preserve and grow capital for long-term goals, meeting the challenges of day to day operational requirements is critical. Macquarie Private Wealth s not-for-profit team will work with you to ensure spending is sustainable and predictable, so that donations replenish capital and purchasing power is carefully protected.

5 Why a $10 donation needs to be as carefully managed as $1.3 billion in funds. Whether a small donation or a significant gifted asset is entrusted to secure the future work of an organisation, the responsibility remains the same. Whether an organisation relies on the tireless work of volunteers or the efforts of staff, researchers, patrons or board members, an innate and genuine understanding of what these funds mean is front of mind for all of our not-for-profit team. Knowing that every dollar counts inspires us to provide a wide range of customised solutions and a team that prides itself on protecting and building wealth.

7 A dollar saved is a dollar raised. Saving money can be just as important as making it. When most clients join Macquarie Private Wealth, they are surprised at the returns achieved through more tax efficient portfolio strategies. Some of these returns can be so significant they compare in monetary value to annual fund raising campaigns. This illustrates the critical importance of establishing the appropriate strategy from the very beginning.

9 Ethical considerations: Why you can tell a lot from the company you keep. Ethical investing is an important consideration for a not-for-profit. Our team understands the need to align an organisation s strong moral, philosophical or religious views with the companies they invest in. We respond to this need by working with the board members to establish a clear set of criteria to evaluate investment opportunities, meaning that each not-for-profit organisation is able to make their own decision on what does or doesn t fit with their morals, ethics and values.

11 Longer term portfolios, partnerships and people. For a not-for-profit, the long term is a lot longer than many appreciate. It can often be framed in years, decades and generations. At Macquarie Private Wealth, taking a longer-term view is key to our wealth strategy but also our approach to partnerships. Our not-for-profit team has worked together for more than 10 years and this consistency is something we value, as do our clients.
