5 SPEAKER PROFILES Emmanuel Dooseman, Partner, Global Head of Banking, Mazars Emmanuel is co-leading Mazars Banking Practice and is head of our Corporate & Investment Bank group. He has more than 20 years experience in Capital Market & Trading serving as a banker, a consultant and an auditor. Emmanuel started his career in 1996 as a money market trader in the Treasury Department of Credit Commercial de France (HSBC France). In 1998, he joined Mazars Paris office and was involved since then in Capital Market audit and advice for various clients within the Corporate & Investment Banking industry in France, Europe and the US. Emmanuel is specialized in Fixed Income and Equity Trading (Cash and Derivatives), Arbitrage, Derivative Structuring, Structured Finance, Asset and project financing. As an expert on financial instruments he supports assignments dealing with valuation policies, governance and process for financial instruments, risk measurement methodologies and framework, and risk management. He is also in engagement partner for statutory audit of systemic French banks and trading entities of international banks. Emmanuel lectures markets trading, banking audit and banking regulation for French Universities and Business Schools and is regularly invited as guest speaker for conferences dealing with financial and banking risks, banking regulation, structured and complex assets management. Gregory Marchat, Partner, UK Head of Financial Services Consulting, Mazars Gregory leads Mazars' UK Financial Services consulting practice and provides support to financial services institutions and regulators to improve the way they operate and manage their risks. He is highly experienced in providing tailored solutions to complex, international issues in areas that have included stress testing at a sovereign level and reviews of banking sector risks for central and international banks. His recent consulting work has included stress testing and asset quality review at European level, risk management assessment, international data validation, deleveraging and restructuring for international banks and risk reviews for central banks and regulators to aid the improvement of banking regulations. Gregory has a strong track record working with financial institutions, Central Banks and regulators, and leading large scale projects in various jurisdictions across Europe, the Middle East and Asia. He is specialized in prudential regulation, risk management, finance effectiveness, as well as large international project management, audit and advisory to Central Banks. Karen Ward, Chief European Economist, HSBC Karen is HSBC's Chief European Economist. She joined HSBC in 2006 as UK economist, and was appointed Senior Global Economist in She is the author of the report The World in Before joining HSBC Karen worked at the Bank of England where she provided supporting analysis for the Monetary Policy Committee. 6 SPEAKER PROFILES Sarah Lane, Regulatory Compliance Director, Mazars Sarah is a chartered accountant with 15 years experience in the financial services industry. She has been with Mazars since 2013 as Director in Regulatory Assurance in Dublin. Sarah has particular responsibility within the firm for the delivery of regulatory and risk advisory services to financial services clients. This includes providing risk reviews, international financial services regulatory research, support and guidance for Mazars International (including CRD IV, ICAAP reviews, Consumer Protection Act, AML), providing complex financial instrument accounting and hedging advice (IAS 39 and IFRS 9), Corporate governance assignments (CG Code, CRR), prudential regulation guidance including interpretation and impact assessments, capital calculation and reporting guidance. Prior to joining Mazars, Sarah was responsible for the provision of regulatory policy development and technical advice at Chartered Accountants Ireland, with a particular focus on financial institutions regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland and Corporate Governance. Sarah trained in financial services audit of a Big 4 firm working primarily with credit institutions and lectured for the Dublin City University on financial reporting and financial instruments as well as tutoring masters accounting students in the area of management accounting. Sarah was responsible for training within the firm in relation to the implementation of the Sarbanes Oxley requirements for clients and also financial instruments accounting during the implementation of IAS 39. Sarah was placed 10th in her Final Accounting Exams illustrating her depth of understanding in the accounting and auditing disciplines including financial analysis. Phuong Gomard, Senior Manager, Financial Services Consulting, Mazars Phuong is a Senior Manager within Mazars' dedicated UK Financial Services Consulting team. She has over eleven years of experience in financial services and is an expert in prudential banking regulations. She started her career as an external auditor in France in In 2008 she joined SGCIB and got involved in three large scales projects aiming at improving and securing accounting processes. After four years, Phuong joined Mazars in London and has been delivering numerous projects mainly in relation to assurance work. She has been helping organizations assessing and improving compliance with the changing Capital and Liquidity regulations. Most recently, she has worked in developing and strengthening liquidity risk management frameworks for medium size financial institutions, addressing both national and European level requirements. Phuong holds a Master degree in Financial and Accounting Management as well as Prince 2 Project Management certification. Xavier Larrieu, Senior Manager, Quantitative Finance Expert, Mazars Xavier is a senior manager within Mazars quantitative Finance practice. He has an in-depth knowledge of financial instruments valuation as well as credit risk and Asset & Liability management techniques. Xavier also possesses an extensive experience in retail banking risk management. For the last 10 years he has worked on numerous assignments for financial institutions including support for IFRS 9 transition and asset quality reviews, reviewing asset liability management models, auditing of collective reserves and monitoring credit risk models. 7 SPEAKER PROFILES Pauline Pélissier, Senior Manager, Financial Services Consulting, Mazars Pauline is a Senior Manager within Mazars' dedicated UK Financial Services Consulting team. She has 10 years of experience in financial services and is an expert in Market Risks and Capital Investment Banking. She started her career as an external auditor in France in Since then she has been leading on-site teams on statutory audit and consulting assignments in banking (CIB, Project Financing, Consumer Financing, ALM). She was the engagement senior manager for global systemic French banks. As an expert on financial instruments she supports assignments dealing with valuation policies, governance and process for financial instruments, risk measurement methodologies and framework, and risk management. Pauline also provides expertise and support to the statutory audit teams for the legal audit of Trading & Capital Market entities. Pauline holds a Master degree in Business Management and is finishing her French CPA internship. Kate Hudson, Director, Global Seminars, Institute of International Finance Kate is the Director of IIF s Global Training team, and previously a Policy Adviser for IIF s Regulatory Affairs team. Prior, she was a senior manager at the RBS Group Holding Company and a member of the BBA s Committee for Financial Inclusion. There she authored eleven new conduct risk policies (including the UK s first ever corporate policy on dealing with customers in vulnerable situations ); and oversaw their implementation and training in their businesses (Coutts, Natwest, Citizens, M&IB etc). Contracting for ComPeer Ltd, on their project board she quantified the costs of compliance in the UK s wealth management industry. Serving the UK s WMA as Senior Policy Advisor, present on their Board she helped to secure their first early day motion in Parliament. Prior, a compliance planning officer for MMC, and here nominated a Future City Leader by the City of London Mayor s office. A compliance manager for ACE Ltd, and a conduct policy development executive for BUPA Group- and then member of UK s ILAG Regulatory Committee. Kate is a Mediator (DC Superior Court) and holds a Postgraduate Diploma in MSc Financial Regulation and Compliance Management at London Metropolitan University, and a L.L.B. in European Legal Studies from the University of Westminster.
