We expect prices to remain lower for the day by a weak demand outlook and dragged by an oversupplied market. Copper and gold production in global mineral exporter Peru rose in June on the year for the fourth straight month, while tin output dropped, the energy and mines ministry said on Thursday. China imported 349,000 tons of unwrought copper and copper materials in June, a drop of 1.4 per cent from the same period of last year and down 3.9 per cent from the prior month, according to data from the General Administration of Customs. Power outages, strikes, floods and drought as well as lower grade source material are tightening copper supplies, potentially pushing the market into deficit earlier than expected and laying the ground for price gains later this year. Libya's oil production is currently nearly 400,000 barrels a day, the oil minister in one of the country's rival governments which controls Tripoli said on Thursday. Colombia, Latin America's No. 4 oil producer, is changing the slate of crudes it exports in a bid to offset the falling prices that are crimping the revenues of its top oil companies.
