2 PREFACE Today, India is looked upon as an emerging investment destination, riding high on savings as compared to the other Asian countries. India s mutual fund segment has been steadily escalating since the last two years, having recorded an all-time high of investments amounting to Rs lakh crores in October It was surpassed in May 2016 with Rs lakh crores with individual investments at Rs lakh crores and institutions at Rs lakh crores in comparison to Rs lakh crore and Rs lakh crore in May 2015 respectively. Though the Indian Mutual Fund industry has been in existences for some time now, there are still a lot of horizons waiting to be conquered by both large and niche financial managers in order to prove themselves. While, the business and operating models will need to undergo changes, organizations need to be more innovative, vibrant and agile. of the digital technology prevalent in the industry. The asset managers are likely to lower costs and generate value from operations while managing to drive the highest and most desired value in investment decisions and client relationships. Technology will continue to be both an enabler and a driver in the mutual fund industry right from already existing firms to new entrants in the market. We foresee the funds seamlessly integrating new technologies with supple operating model and structures, catering and adapting to the ever changing client demands, new regulatory requirements and the shifting costs. Mutual funds are looked upon as a transparent and low cost investment vehicle and due to the volatile market environment, individuals are encouraged to invest into such investment plans. But in spite of several efforts to boost the Mutual Fund segment, there are still many challenges which need to be addressed. The Mutual Fund industry is expected to continue embracing and delivering the digital experience by leveraging the power
