support Hope For Orphans through Waterstone and Asset giving Dear HFO Family, We are excited to announce our new collaboration with Waterstone Foundation and sharing with you guys about the power of asset giving. Our good friends at Waterstone provide Christ centered support to families who need solutions for their donations and leveraging the benefits of non-cash giving. It was amazing for me to learn how kingdom return on investment is greatly multiplied thru these strategies which also have a very favorable benefit tax wise. Obviously most folks are not in a position to even consider such giving strategies, but for those who are we have attached an introduction to some of the strategies available. If you are interested in this type of strategic giving, I would love to visit with you. As Hope for Orphans is now engaged with equipping churches around the world and supporting families in post placement, our scalability is directly related to funding on this level. Your asset based gifts to HFO could help us in particular to build the content on demand digital strategy we have for equipping churches around the world, but more importantly perhaps would be the ability for us to answer the multiple invitations for HFO to serve among unreached people groups. We have opportunities right now in parts of the Middle East, the Hindu world and even Japan. We believe that not only are orphans one of the largest unreached people groups, but through loving them we can see the Gospel come to many. If you have the potential for a gift to HFO at this level, we would love to see how we can partner with you to see the vision of orphan ministry literally being a part of completing the Great Commission. Please read the introduction from Waterstone below and let us hear from you as the Lord leads. Blessings Paul Pennington Executive Director & Co-Founder Please contact us for more information: hopefororphans@hopefororphans.org Phone:
Become an Intentional Giver Treat your giving like a business. Apply sound business practices like planning, counsel, due diligence and accountability. Get smart. Leverage WaterStone s expertise in innovative giving solutions and enjoy significant economic benefits and share them intelligently with your preferred ministries. Become tax-savvy. Count on WaterStone for cutting-edge thinking on tax-advantaged giving strategies. Ninety percent of giving comes from liquid assets. What percentage of your charitable gifts are drawn from your liquid assets/cash? Eighty percent of a typical portfolio consists of complex assets. What percentage of your portfolio is in real estate, business ownership interests, or commodities? How well informed are you on specific strategies to unlock your complex assets in order to magnify your giving? Do you know that by using your complex assets for giving purposes you may gain significant breaks on capital gain and income taxes?
Heighten your joy of generosity When you work with WaterStone, we empower and equip you to give more. Give more and pay less in taxes Give more efficiently through complex assets Give more effectively make larger gifts and more gifts today Give more conveniently by a simple 24/7 online grant-making process Give more continuously a lifetime of year-round giving Transform Assets into Living Water WaterStone s special expertise in complex assets (real estate, business ownership, commodities, and oil and energy interests), empowers you to maximize your financial impact on the Kingdom. When we design a personalized solution for you we can utilize a range of strategies, including: Donor Advised Funds. A WaterStone Donor Advised Fund is a Giving Fund that allows you to make contributions, receive an immediate tax deduction, and then make recommendations for distributing the funds to charities, ministries and educational institutions on your own timetable. Charitable Trusts. A WaterStone charitable trust, provides you and/or your beneficiaries with a potential lifetime income stream based on the income earned by the fund. The remaining assets are eventually distributed to the charitable beneficiaries of your choice. Charitable Pooled Trust. A WaterStone CPT enables you to make a tax-deductible gift to a pooled account and receive variable income for life. At your death, the remainder will be available for the mission of your recommended charities through your WaterStone Donor Advised Fund.
Gifts of Appreciated Securities
Gifts of Appreciated Securities Benefits of Gifting Appreciated Securities Donating securities with long-term capital gains may mean significant tax savings. WaterStone accepts a variety of investment assets for your Giving Fund (Donor Advised Fund), including mutual funds, stocks, and bonds. 1. Stop writing checks to your preferred charities with after-tax dollars. Increase your giving capacity by utilizing appreciated assets instead of your cash assets. You can give more through appreciated securities. 2. Send checks to your investment portfolio and reset your cost basis. You can either add to your portfolio holdings or repurchase the securities you donated to your WaterStone Giving Fund (DAF). 3. Seek trusted counsel from a professional about your giving. WaterStone can help guide you through the giving solutions which best address your current situation and future goals in a comprehensive giving program. 4. Ask your financial advisors to harvest your capital gains in order to gift these appreciated securities, thereby eliminating capital gains taxes and lowering the cost basis of your investment holdings at the portfolio and security level. 5. Receive an immediate tax deduction for your contribution of appreciated securities; you choose when to make the distributions to charities.
