About GIIA There has never been a more important time for the infrastructure investor community to come together to create a unified voice for the industry. The OECD has estimated that by 2030 over US$50 trillion of investment is required worldwide to upgrade and build the infrastructure needed to meet future demand. With Government balance sheets heavily constrained, private investment must be part of the solution to deliver the essential assets and services that infrastructure represents. The Global Infrastructure Investor Association (GIIA) is a global advocacy association representing equity investors in global infrastructure and those associated with the asset class. GIIA works in partnership with governments and regulators to achieve our shared ambition of increasing infrastructure investment. We aim to do this by building public understanding of the positive role played by private investors in long-term infrastructure investment and supporting governments, regulators and other policy-makers in developing and maintaining supportive and stable regulatory environments to facilitate further investment. GIIA is unique in being the only body representing the leading global investors in the unlisted infrastructure industry. Our members span six continents and manage more than $400 billion in infrastructure assets around the world. Our associate members include many of the leading professional service firms that support the sector. Through positive advocacy, specific interventions and networking events, GIIA is at the forefront of the sector s engagement with political leaders, policy makers and regulators promoting an environment where private investment will enable societies to realise their ambitions for world class infrastructure.
Our Objectives To be the public voice for equity investors in unlisted infrastructure and to build increased understanding of long-term infrastructure investment and the positive role of private investors Increase awareness, knowledge and understanding of infrastructure investment Develop an evidence base on the impact of private investment in infrastructure Exchange knowledge and contacts through high quality industry networking opportunities To advocate for the industry, engaging directly with governments, supra-national bodies and other policy-makers to develop and maintain supportive and stable regulatory environments and reduce barriers to investment Promote and contribute to discussions on long-term infrastructure investments with organisations such as the OECD, the G20 and IMF Establish a collaborative dialogue with policy-makers and regulators to support the development of sustainable and mutually beneficial investment environments and increase the opportunities for private investment Act on behalf of Members to address regulatory or government actions that could destroy value or dis-incentivise future investment How we deliver We are an advocacy association, funded by membership fees. The Association is a member-driven organisation guided by the expertise of those who sit on the Management Board and supported by member involvement in various working groups. Headquartered in London with a small central team, we work through regional networks in North America, Europe and Australasia to deliver our global remit. Additionally, we have within our membership world class technical expertise in areas such as Tax and Regulation. We also have an active events calendar which provides networking opportunities for members.
Membership Membership to GIIA is open to companies that play an active role in the unlisted infrastructure industry via investment or other activities that support the investment process. There are two categories of corporate membership: Full membership is available to direct and indirect equity investors in unlisted infrastructure and managers of funds directing unlisted infrastructure investments. Full members are eligible to be elected to the Management Board. Associate membership is available to advisers supporting equity investment in unlisted infrastructure (e.g. accountants and lawyers) and research institutions, universities or other parties that contribute to the infrastructure investment dialogue. Associate members may serve on working groups. Membership Fees are set on an annual basis. For 2017 the annual membership fee for Full and Associate members is a flat fixed fee of 11,000.
Full Members (As at July 2017) The most up-to-date list of all members can be found on Associate Members (As at July 2017)
Contact Details You can visit our website at to find out more about us. If you re interested in adding your name to our membership list then we d be delighted to hear from you. Send us an via info@giia.net
