13 Case study KRAKOW BY-PASS - LAGIEWNICKA ROUTE EUR 93m (PLN 400m) financed via EFSI to: Construction of 3.7km of Krakow city by-pass, a dual carriageway ring road Extend of tram line (1.7km) Project also supported by the Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego (BGK), the Polish development bank Loan builds on previous investment in Krakow tramway network: 2010: EUR 38m investment to modernise and extend network 2015: EUR 20m to purchase of new trams and ticketing machines Project objectives: Reduce congestion, thus travel time Encourage modal shift Improve quality of tram service Increase safety of traffic through grade separated junctions European Investment Bank Group 12/10/

14 EFSI Case Study: Riga Transport Company (LV) Example of blending CEF grant and EIB/EFSI finance Borrower: Riga Transport Company (RTC), public transport operator owned by Municipality of Riga Example of electric bus testing in Riga (2016) EIB EUR 75m loan (with EFSI guarantee approval) to: Upgrade the tram system (new rolling stock and infrastructure) Modernise existing tramway depot Purchase 10 new hydrogen fuel cell buses, 10 new trolleybuses with hydrogen fuel cell range extenders and associated refueling infrastructure EUR 8m CEF grant to co-finance installation of hydrogen fuel production and charging facilities Remainder to be financed by RTC s own funds and other bank (commercial) loans Environmental, noise, safety and accessibility benefits. 15 Case study: ZEB zero emission buses in the Netherlands Beneficiary: The ZEB platform which was a cooperation between authorities, operators, manufacturers and other main stakeholders Objective: Design and develop a TCO model for implementation of zero emission buses, and develop tender documents for zero emission public transport services, to be made available for all public transport authorities in the Netherlands Location: Provinces of North Brabant and Limburg, the Netherlands Estimated investment programme cost: EUR 587m ELENA support: EUR 2.46m ( ) Market replication (1) : the outcomes have directly been used by the City of Eindhoven in a deployment program for 43 electric buses which went into operation in Market replication (2) : Under DA 2016, a project will be signed with Movia, PTA of Greater Copenhagen, who during a period of 8 years is planning to deploy some 350 zero emission buses. The project will also use the outcomes and experiences from ZEB European Investment Bank Group 12/10/
