2 Hello & Welcome to the Music for Young Violinists project I have been teaching the violin for 20+ years and it thrills me to live in a time period where I can instantly share music, teaching materials and ideas with musicians from all over the world. Included in the MYV Welcome Packet are the following resources: 1- Bach Double Violin Concerto, Mvmt. I, sub-division sample from the Teacher s Toolkit (the full movement transcribed into sixteenth notes is available on the website) - My graduation requirement for this piece is to play it in it s entirety subdivided into sixteenth notes. I created this resource to support this value of accurate rhythmic interpretation and to help students check their work at home when subdividing directly from the score. Additionally, I had many students begin this piece before our studio s summer break and it was a way for me to provide some guide rails for them to work on it independently during a time period where we would not be meeting for regular lessons. 2- Drowsy Maggie from Let s Fiddle & Fiddle Duets - I get more s asking about this piece than any other and it s no wonder because it s such an awesome tune If you are interested in a harmony part for Drowsy Maggie I have a neat arrangement available in Fiddle Duets. 3- Mystery Minuet? from Backwards Music, Level 2 - I began transcribing pieces backwards for my students because I thought it would be fun to solve the mystery of what piece is this? while practicing sight reading skills. I believe that our students should be able to read music at the level they perform so these collections (Backwards Music Levels 1 & 2) put this theory to test by using the exact same pitches and rhythms of the repertoire they study just organized in a different way. If my students were helping me write this they would want me to share that the backwards pieces are some of their favorites. - Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star duet: Teasing Song from Twinkle: Duets, Trios & Quartets and 22 Fabulously Fun Duets arranged for Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star - This is one of my favorite Twinkle duets because it works as an independent melody and is composed in a way to empower students new to third position with the added variation.
