3 What Are the A & B Taxes Many employers still have questions about the A &BT Taxes. TAX A TAX B e A Tax is a $2,000 per employee per year penalty, which a company will pay if they fail to offer healthcare to 70% of their full time employees. e B Tax is a $3,000 per subsidized employee per year penalty, which a company will pay if they fail to offer a plan that is affordable and minimum value. 5 F C +P FreedomCare+Plus meets the affordable and minimum value provisions of the Affordable Care Act, but is designed as a low enrollment plan. This plan is subject to two deductibles: one is $6,350 for medical, and the second is $6,350 for prescription*. FreedomCare+Plus has a limited enrollment period of 15 days, and a cost to the employee. All employees will be offered this plan and will need to contact our call center to enroll. The call center will explain FreedomCare+Plus and, if applicable, provide information on more affordable and benefit rich options based on the employees individual needs including: Indemnity plans, fully insured plans and insurance exchanges. Offering this plan will cover the B tax requirement. *self-insured plans that are implemented in 2014 can have two separate deductibles of $6,350 for the duration of the policy. Any self-insured plans implemented after January 1st 2015 will have one combined deductible of $6,350 for both major medical and prescription. The entire process is seamless. 8 e Application Process: Upon completion of our short application and payment of the fees and deposits as shown on the quote, we will submit all the information that is needed to the state to create your Self Directed Insurance Trust. 9 e Enrollment Process: Upon receiving an updated census your employees will be automatically enrolled into FreedomCare-Basic.
